Question

I need your opinions on an Eclipse Titanium SW9122. It’s the DVC 4ohm version. Id be running it off a RF 1000bd amp.

Is this a good sub for SQ? I take it that this sub can only take 750w rms? Sorry.. im still a newbie

BTW, does anyone have comments about the Titanium series in general?

Here are the specks on it..

. Polyether Surround
· Titanium Cone
· Dual Mirror-Image Spiders
· Aluminum Voice Coil Former
· "Bottomless" Design
· Aero-Vented Pole Piece
· Cast Aluminum Frame
· Triple-Stacked Magnet
· Small Sealed-Box Enclosure
· Continuous Power Handling: 750W
· Music Power Handling: 1,500W
· Dual Voice Coil
· QCA (Quick Change Assembly)

Good sounding sub that will work well in a small box. Requires lots of power to reach full potential. Will take more than the recommended rms rating with ease.

I would suggest 2-3 times the RMS power. However, don't give it that power in a huge box.
It'll nearly reach xmax with 600 RMS if you put a 20Hz note through it. I know mine did. Very scary.
Yes it's quite alright for SQ. I don't know about the 12, but my 15 likes to not play any bass above around 60Hz. Like an automatic cut. I think it was the box, though.
$380? Let me guess.... ebay. I got my 15 for less, but it's still a good bargain.

Gilligans Hitch freaks out every time I tell him I'm going to seal my Ti.

Oh, and I really don't know what's wrong with Eclipse, but that pic is of a 12" Aluminum, not the Titanium. It's got significantly more surround to it than that!!

Chadxton,

Naw, Im getting it off my buddy.. he had it for about 2 months, so its used. I'll be running 1000wrms to it (unless my RF 1000bd does even more, which I hope) so I think that it would be enough power for the sub. I dont think I could fit a 15" Ti in my little Acura 1.6EL
