i have an spl built and in my car now but im looking to build a nut shrinking daily box. i have 7.2cubes before displacement. im looking to tune to 30-35 hz. the port i came up with is 19.5x5x40 or so long. sound right to any of you. lemme know what you think. the box i have now(thanks again MTA for your help) is tuned to 46 hz. 2.67 total with a 14.5x6.5x37 port. thanks.

hahahah. i took rough measurements man. i was in the middle of working. i left me room to mount amps and batts as well. now i dont care about that. that box turned out well just need a daily box. hits liek a tank but lacking in the lows. MAX dimentions(sp) are 40*18*21. i want to tune to 32-35 hz. the port BB6P came up with is 19.5*4*22-35 depending on tuning. thanks

yeah thats all fine and dandy...if you want a regular daily driving box... that sounds good ,you want to keep the sub in control...and use a fairly small box... build a 2.9cuft box and put a single 4" port into it that is aprox 8-12" long...(12" will tune aprox 30Hz---8" will be aprox 35Hz)it will sound awsome with that sub!
that is 2.9 TOTAL internal volume...- 0.35 for sub displacement and -0.6-0.1 for port displacement
yields you 2.44-2.5 cuft
how did you ever get a job as an installer? on my list, being able to build a box that will sound good is one of the majors...specially one that will not cause subwoofers to explode or burn up

wtf was all that about. this question had absolutly NOTHING do to with blowning **** up or with my abilities to build a box. have i ever doubted your abilities. no. so why would you doubt mine. i have thanked you EVERY time u helped me and this is the comment i get. guess i should do **** on my own from now on instead of asking for help on a forum designed for just that. all i asked for was an opinion on port width. i also want to use the amp i have now and not have to put 9000rms to the driver liek the box u designed. im working with 1500+.

sorry If I jumped at you so hard... you confused the hell out of me... I gave you a design that works for SPL and all other dimensions and what port(s) to make it sound good for daily driving...and the box I designed for SPL i didnt say you MUST put 9000 watts into the sub...just that it would handle UPTO that amount of power before it blows to hell... anyways...sorry for my being an ***

i used the 2 4" port u mentioned and i got alot of port noise and didnt make too much of a difference so i figured id try something else. trial and error i guess. not to many people are running these drivers daily.

should have stayed aprox 10% with those ports...I guess you're trying to listen to it really loud for everyday...
I ran it for quite a while and so did Ken in his van they actually sounded good aslong as you tune it into the 30Hz range
