Btw... have you ever seen a Panda in person? Just wondering if you're basing your opinion on having seen the cars or if it's just Internet research
Could part of that be due to there being very few exploders across the pond, whereas Pandas are common and dirt-cheap? I'm sure if exploders were common over there, at least a few hard-cores would have put the months/years worth of testing into them to see just what kind of potential they might have. But how do you justify trying one out when guys are putting up big numbers with a locally attainable car?
Look at over here. For as long as I can remember, the CRX was considered leagues ahead of everything else in terms of SPL (for cars readily available in North America anyway). It was small, there was less space to pressurize than most other cars, no back seats to get in the way, and you didn't need alot of testing to get decent numbers out of one.
Now you have guys like Tuan claiming that his explorer has more potential than the CRX he won with.

Now I'm not saying that an Exploder is louder than a Panda, or that it's definitely louder than a CRX. But I think more and more people will be testing them out this year, and chances are decent that we'll see some big numbers out them.
Either way, come next fall we'll know who was right and who was full of .

never mind the explorer. i could probly do 156+ in my grand cherokee in C with a first few boxes. dunno about 160 tho.

a mid size suv could be loud. one disatvatage that an suv has compared to a crx is that it is alot more 'patted' or 'upholstered'. crx is just metal and plastic. my jeep has all sorts of pattings all over the place, its got thick carpet on the floor, in the trunk and on the sides (doors as well). that only hurts. suv has much thicker seats as well. if you have an older suv from the 80's or early 90's something like that could work very well cuz of alot less material inside of the vehicle. when i start removing carpeted peices from my jeep i gain huge, unfortunately that is not legal in db drag.

i think the car that would be even better than the explorer or any other suv for Street C is the old Volvo station wagon. it's got close to 40 inches of depth, it would rock any suv out there.

I think the panda is louder not because of the vehicle but because of the people testing it. Euros find a car that works and stick with it. I think thats the key, no matter how discouraged you get. Many Americans will try an SUV or smaller compact and not get the results they want so they automatically hop onto the crx bandwagon or another vehicle.

Ive never seen a panda in person but Ive been all over the internet for countless hours looking at whatever pics and info I can find on them. And many discussions were had with other Canadians that I'm sure you're aware of in regards to what makes a panda loud and what advantages they have over another vehicle.

I think the crx, panda and explorer are capable of 160 in street c all in due time.
The thing is, a Panda doesn't NEED 8 amps to be that loud. The 160 was broken with like, 4 amps. More isn't necessarily better.

Having seen pictures on the Internet and talking to ther Canadians who have only seen pictures on the Internet hardly makes you an expert.

As Yuli said, the reason why an Explorer won't be as loud is because of all the extra padding in the vehicle. The Panda has NO padding. It's basically all metal. Even the seats are only small pieces of foam.

Having more power/subs doesn't necessarily mean you'll be louder. Just check out Alan Dante in EX 1... he's louder than the EX 2 and 3-4 guys.

8 d10's fit in a panda I know for a fact!! Yes most people use 4 amps but some also use 8 also.. Yes I have heard loud explores, I have heard loud crx's and I have heard loud panda's Like everyone has said Its how much work and dedication you put into it to make it that loud.. I used only 2 d10 in my crx last year and 4 at worlds . But this I will be running 8...

i think you guys are begging to stretch the argument as well as the points you are trying to make.

8 amps does usually mean better. kevin koller did 158 with 4 amps in his explorer. not 160 but still decent. i'd have to say tho that in his truck there was no room left for 4 more amps, not in the trunk anyways.

at finals there where a number of explorers, some had same box as kevins, none however, came close his numbers. its all about knowing and working your vehicle.
