i'm almost certain that if you have 140db in your ear, you will dislodge the cochlea.
What distance are you measuring spl from?

And i'm 100000000000% certain that's not true. Measurement was done from the windshield as all other SPL cars. I've sat in 148db cars before (almost 3 times louder than a 140db in theory and it nowhere near dislodged my cochlea).

And before the next question, my hearing is not the least bit impaired. I'm doing SQ now and have a good ear for it as well. I hear just as well as anybody. There are 1,000s of people out there that will back me up.

Now these are low frequencies. If you had 140db in high frequencies, well there would be some ears bleeding, that's for sure.

Since maximum achievable spl in regular air is about 194 db or so....uhm I mean my 6.5" pyramids have hit 240 db easily, and just running off my Kraco head unit 8 track player (playing AM talk radio no less).

All you kids are weaksauce these days.

theres no way that thing will hit 300 db sorry to say thats just ludacris advertising. And about the Jackhammer, a 300 watt 12 in a proper box could EASILY hit 120 db, my one 15 with 1600 watts probably hits around 140db, so the jackhammer should be up closer to 155-160 at least

Hey Norm,

That was a looooooong time ago. That was my first system too and that was the 9500 just when it came out. It pounded 142dbs on a good day with a 1.1 cu.ft. box. Don't get me wrong the MTX woofers are good, but I just don't like that jackhammer. They made something huge, not something effective or good.

to all the true SPL'ers out there... this is too funny!

I CANT BELIEVE HOW MANY STUPID PPL THERE ARE IN THIS WORLD... that argue a sarcastic comment. I apologize for being rude! but here u go:

1. that will not do 300dB... simply imposible
2. to be 2x as loud u need an increase of 10db... from 140 to 148 is only 8dB and would not count as almost 3x louder
3. to go from 300dB to 600dB you need an EXTREME AMOUNT of power measured in GIGA watts
4. to acheive a gain of 3dB (in theory... so no one argues) you either need to double your power or your cone area! ( you're right if it did 300dB and I got 2 of them it would only be 303dB... but trust me it doesnt do 300dB i bought one and measured it with my TermLab
and it only did 289.6dB) musta got one of the quieter ones... I feel ripped off

I could continue the list so if u want to learn the theories of power and SPL ask! I might not have ALL the answers... but Im sure some of the other guys will answer them... without sarcasm.

I can't seem to overlook the fact that this was a shot at me considering I posted that 2 x sarcastic 300db sirens = 303dbs (in theory) not 600 (which was intended jokingly, not to correct you), so in turn here's my own sarcastic comment..... not to be rude of course

You've gotta be pretty stupid yourself if you thought for one second that any of us were not joking.

In "theory" a 3db increase is twice as loud, not 10db http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277317 who cares anyways, this was a joke thread.

Yea... going back to the original joke, a siren that does 300dbs with a few watts... Nobody actually meant it was going to do anywhere near 300dbs

I'm sure the rest of the "stupid" SPLers would love to hear more obvious facts and to tell us how the joke is incorrect.

The thread was a joke, nobody believed the siren can do 300dbs!

PS: I'm not a SPLer but I posted this as a joke. Thanks for correcting it and enlighting me that 300db from a alarm siren is not possible.

if i remember correctly thats louder than a 747 at full throttle..

so if you ever had to announce something over the noise of a full throttle aircraft you would be all good lol

Guys, I just picked up 6 of these. WOW they are loud, check out my score on my TL. I don't know how it's possible, but this guy on eBay sure knows how to make a winning siren!!!
