Hrm... the 1000w is a bit more than the L5's are rated for.

If you don't mind taking a chance on blowing it up, then sure... go with it.

If you're really concerned about the cash though you could always pick up a pair of 10" L5's. They would be able to handle that power (and maybe even do it better than the L7's)

I was under the impression that both the brahma and the XXX had been used with great success in the SPL arena...

The 04 and previous XXXs had a little more xmax then the brahma.. Iam pretty sure the voice coils are basically the same... (same former & wrap height/width)

Mine don't flinch one bit burping off of a Crossfire VR2000D at 1 ohm...They take all the power I have ever thrown at them and want more. Giving them 1k each is about right for daily, nevermind burps.

They have been used, but not by many, and not with too much success.

The RE SX and RE MT are better options in the RE lineup for SPL subs.

Kickers are supposed to be good. I'm running a set of 10"L7's and they are pretty nice. I have yet to get them loud, but I'm working on it

Stick with that L5 you have if you don't want to spend money right now.

If you are like me and want to spend money then look into some L7 10's, SX 10's, DD 10's, atomic 10's and there are others.

First question should be, what amp are you using?
My suggestion is to spend the money on a good amp. If you don't have enough power competing and buying expensive subs will be a waste of your money.
So buy a BIG amp, then get some cheaper subs such as an L7, and you'll hit way higher.
