Hey Guys. Right now I run 2 Alpine 10" type R dual 2 ohm subs. EACH chanel of the subs gets 300 watts at 2 ohms. My question is : Should I switch over to kicker CVR's (dual 2 ohms). I know that right now I'm under powering the Alpines and that I would be closer to matching the power on the Kickers. I don't really want to change all four amps eather. How much of a diffrence is this going to make in terms of SPL. Any at all. I'd like to get some peoples thoughts. Thanks.

First of all the Alpine Type R is only Rated at 300w RMS each. They can easily handle 500w RMS each tho.

The Kicker Comp VR is rated 400w RMS each and i don't know how well they take more power.

The biggest thing is that i have run both and the Alpine Type R had better SQ and got just as loud as the Kicker Comp VR. Don't waste your money by switching to Kicker. It's like you buying new Type R's. If you wanna try another brand try PG Titaniums or if you go Kicker try an L5 or L7.

By the way, what amps are you using?

the L7's love power.i'm putting 1300wrms into each of mine.6-700wrms will work fine, the small ported box that kicker recommends is good all around street bass w/decent spl #'s @ the windsheild.the big box is for crazy street bass, but not as good @ the windsheild L8r

i used to run 2 12" alpine type r's off my jl 500/1, and now i have two kicker comp vr 10's. The kickers are WAY Better, but that could be because the alpines were in that custom red apine box, and my kickers are in boxes that I built to kicker specs which are a bit bigger. don't know if that helps
