Hey everyone. i was just informed my box wont be pushing peak performance for spl. yuli told me i could be getting alot more with a dif setup. im running 4 type r 10"s 2ohm DVC's and 2 A8002t's (audiobahn) im in a 2006 passat 2.0t i have the entire trunk to work with. im running the stock battery and a motomaster (550CCA) i had it brand new from my old car. but im seriously considering some yellow tops. can anyone give me some info on what kind of box i should be using for more SPL. im not even metered yet. i was very supprised to see windows shake on buildings and dangerous flex of my windows. but if i can be getting more out of it i would love too. building another box from scratch is no issue its fun. im running all 4g wire am doing the big 3 then running all 0gauge minus my amps. they will still be 4g. any input would be great. i have not got a TL reading yet. not sure what im puting out.

 

get it measured just so you have an idea how loud it is ... you sound like a rookie( no offence meant) and in rookie class you might just be very competitive with what you have
I would definately upgrade the 4awg to something a bit thicker...but make sure it is proper thickness cable as some stereo shop cables coming from china say its 1/0 cable but really its a lot of plastic insulation and only 4 awg worth of copper

 

btw... if u need cable go see Tim or Frank at Car Audio Haven... they have nice 1/0 cable there... tell them Peter sent you and to be nice!

 

tim already hooks me up. i was there today and he hooked my best friend up with some Pbs for next to nothing. hes a great dude. im far from a rookie on the installation side. just when it comes to box design im a complete newb. i started out with only 2k watts and 4g was sufficent. but now i am going to run the 1g or 0. hehe give me some time. only have so much income to play with.

 

oh yea let me tell you about the story tonight... my friends driving an 09 caliber. and he took it to peel audio video to keep his warranty ( we are completely capable of installing but not licenced so we could of voided his warranty ) today after hooking up the 2 PB's we had a major signal issue (hes running stock HU) peel audio video ran his high level imputs from 1 door. not both. on top of that they butchered the ground under the seat. instad of putting on a nice ring terminal for the 4g wire. they cut the 4g in half and used a 8g connector. and used a self tapping screw into some thin sheet metal.. when there was a huge bolt to the frame only 2 inches away... yes only 2 effing inches away.. can u believe that!! and they never sanded the contact area.. right over the paint. i dont think dave at peel did the install. this was last year im sure this kid jason did it.. (he was a helper back then) but it was a butchered job none the less... cant believe a shop provided this kind of half assed work.

 

um just so you know..if Jav still works at haven with Tim n Frank...he's licensed so you dont need to worry about warrranty

 

Got it metered sunday at the modified car show on sunday night... i did 134.9 still with no port. 2 stereo amps ( seriously need a monoblock stable at 1 ohm) no dedener and a stock head unit..
