There is no best spl sub.. it's just what works better for your application.. if you do a search on termpro you can see what subs and amps were used at last years finals.. and that will give you a good starting point..

what class are you planning to run in
I have a friend who is in streetB hitting 144-145
with 2 spl 5000 and a d2. With these big subs you have to give them an insane amount of power.
Kicker L7's 10' or 12's are extremely loud but are not as efficient as the ATOMIC A P X'S or the
DD 9900 if cost is your thing Which it is for many
people I would go with the DD 9500's or 3500's
