Question Box Design For SPL For 15 Mmats ProCast 600 RMS, Need help in Dimensions!

Hey guys,

Calling on your audio expertice once again! The sub is an Mmats ProCast 15 Inch, DVC rated at 600 RMS. Current dimensions of the box are 18.5 Inches in Height, 15 Inches in Lenth, and 32 Inches in Width. It's dual ported, with 2 chambers. The Chamber that holds the sub is 20 inches in width, and has one port. The other chamber is 10 Inches in width, also with one port, and one that joins both chambers. Trying to fit that sub box into the trunk now, and it's just not happening. Every single way I angle it, it won't go in facing forwards or backwards, just up. Facing up isn't going to get me any good SPL, so I don't want to have to place it in the trunk facing up. So I measured up dimensions, and this is what I've came to.:

Before I say anything, my dimensions are basically the same as that of a car. The width of the box would be like the width of a car, from one side to the other. The height is obvious, and lenth of the box is like the lenth of a car, front to back. Just making sure, because I'm not sure if I had the concepts of lenth and width mixed up :? But, I've got 2 options:

- One, I can put it in through the back seat. The dimensions would have to be maximums of 17 Inches in Height, 19 Inches in Width, and basically as big as it can fit in Lenth, but Preferably no more than 25 Inches.

- Two, I can put it in throught the actual trunk. The Dimensions would have maximums of 18 Inches in Height (18 1/2 if need be), 10 Inches In Lenth, and 34 Inches In Width.

I've got no clue of the volume this box currently has now, but I'd be looking to acheive the same volume it is now. I've no clue how to design a box, at all, so can anyone suggest some dimensions that fall within one of the two options I have above that would match the volume of the box I have now, or come close to it? Also, does anyone know what I could tune the box to to acheive good SPL? And how could I tune it, such as lenth of the ports, size of the chambers, ect? Thanks in advance, I'm really appreciating this help!

Wow, no one?

Well, with some help from the previous owner of the sub, the ProCast should do best for SPL in a 3 Cubic Ft Box. Using this box dimension calculator (Top of the page):

http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=45

If the box must be 17 Inches in Height, and 19 Inches in Width (Those are the dimensions it needs to be to be able to fit in my trunk), then the box will have to be 22.3 Inches in Lenth to achieve 3 cubic feet, can anyone confirm that? With that calculator, you include how thick the building material is. I think I'll be going with 1 inch thick MDF (Should I go smaller? Or is 1 Inch good since it'll stand up to more tossing around, ect.), so I put that in there, and 17x19x22.3 were the pecs it gave me.

Now, another question, how do I tune this box to around 32 or 34Hz? The box I have now is a dual chamber (measurements of this box are included in the above post), with an 8 inch port in each chamber, and it's tuned to 32 or 34Hz. Anyone care to try and help me out on this one, what do you guys think?
