try opening the windows when your driving and playing the music at the same time, when the bass hits it will blow the air out of the windows, then when it stops the air will blow in the windows....it's kinda cool and sounds funny.

^ yeah I LOVE doing that. My mx6 has a moon roof, so it buzzes my hair. Its really cool.

Logically, wouldn't the windows being up ALWAYS make it louder? I know sometimes, the woofer can breathe much better if the windows are open, and therefore be more effecient, so it kind of cancels eachother out right?

well.. when the windows are open, it kinda acts as like a ported box... that's the basic reason why it's louder with them open.

cool, so does anybody have any ideas of how to calculate or tune this "Bandpass" encloser? like are there any calculations towards figuring out the amount of area a given window has to be open, in relation to the vehicle cabin size? or is a termpro spl meter the best calculator out there?

^^ because it wouldn't be very useful for competition, who knows, it might even become a CASPL class now that you mentioned it.

oh geez...good question... find the exact airspace you have in the vehicle(assume its totally air leak free) calculate the opening of your window in square inches(port area)...and the thickeness of your window (port depth)
and thats about it ...there is really no point to it unless you're competing MECA or USACi where you are allowed to have doors or windows open... and even then its more hassle then its worth..just experiment with an SPL mic/sensor to find out what works best for something like that

Exactly. We're smart not genius! lol

That'd be near impossible to figure out but that would be how.
