The quad coils are the MA Audio HardKore series...15" and 18" versions, both rated for 10KWatts...the Mississauga store is selling the 15s for $299 and the 18s for $349. They are both pretty beefy looking drivers, and even if they won't handle 10K on a daily basis, they look like they would hang in with any other driver you can get for that kind of coin.

Having heard all the usual noise about the XS Cargo equipment this year, I can only say the MA amp I bought is still working fine, the speakers various friends have installed in their cars and home theatre systems are pounding along, and I may have to go back for more....the 10" SVC Visoniks are down to $20 each, and I'm thinking 8 of them wired up right might be a nice addition to the home theatre in the basement....

Good luck to anyone who is going to enter this competition, from what I've seen and heard there will be some interesting systems put together, and when it's this cheap, it can be a lot of fun!

My $.02 worth...

IIRC, the original challenge is to get the most sound out of $200 worth of amp(s) and sub(s) from the selection at XS Cargo. It defeats the purpose if you can use stuff you already own...

One of my friends in Mississauga is working on this as we speak...one of these: http://www.xscargo.com/product.php?d...=24&item=HK297
hooked up to 4 of these: http://www.xscargo.com/product.php?d...78&item=V126S4 ....

I don't think he's going to go far in DbDrag, but it should be interesting to see what he can get out of this stuff. He also has one of these: http://www.xscargo.com/product.php?d...=0&item=CDX10A
that he will be using to power the subs after this little contest is over...funny thing is, he got a new deck from Santa, and he will be putting a pretty nice system in his Jeep for less than $1K...gotta love the folks at XS...

Another $.02 worth of opinion and speculation...hehe

To answer your question, Silva95teg, almost all of the car audio at XS this year is "decent". I would stay away from the Thump line, but the MA Audio, Visonik, Clif Designs and several of the Ultralinear amps, seem to be a pretty good deal for someone looking to upgrade or start up a new system.

I have my doubts about setting any records with this stuff, but for the bucks, I haven't heard any complaints about the various bits and pieces picked up by myself and several friends over the last few months.

Yup... I'll try and get something worked out within the next week.

Aaron.. sorry, I didn't see your question earlier.

NO... you can't use the $200 on subs from there and use your own amp... that would completely defeat the purpose

Rules/guidelines will be out by next weekend I hope.

A warning in advance.. not everyone will be happy. I'll do the best I can though.
