Day 1

Curtis(Livin Loud) and I decide we are going to compare the Visonik V900XD and V4000XD today. the battery used was a brand new Hawker 1700. the mic used is an accurate old termlab. (oxymoron? nah...)

Start off by wiring the Treo CSX 12's to 1.4 ohm each, in crx style boxes, which are nicely placed in the back of a Ford explorer. After some tweaking, the v900xd's were doing a steady 149.6, so we decided to wire each sub down to .3 ohm. After doing this the mic was toping at 151.9 Very pleased with results and amps holding out there, we tried the v4000's at .3 ohm. While burping with the vehicle turned on the battery was dropping from 14v to 12.5 immediately. and only showing 146.3 on the mic.

As the cold day concluded, we decided the visonik v4000xd is made for a 16v setup and possbily only a super street application. I say this because even with just one amp running we did not notice a difference in poor output.

As for the v900xd, i still give two thumbs up to this amp, held out amazingly, as well as they made those treos dance nicely. mhmmmmm bass! best guess is to say that they were putting out 2000 watts rms each @ .3 ohm ???

As for the position of boxes, etc... Found both boxes together centered from the sides, and 8 inches from the rear hit hardest.

This is just a informational write-up brought to you by zac and curtis. more to come soon, next will be the testing of mmats and d3 amplifiers. not to mention new box designs.

Testing is good. I highly suggest getting a new termlab from Wayne.

Keep up the tests!

Anyone ever measure clean ouput on either of those amps below rated load ?

They can handle 17V input, so it's not surprising they can run into low impedance loads without shutting down or blowing up with only 12.5-14V...

But is it clean ?

(probably not )

thanks guys that will be today. It was fairly cold, and pulling those treos out of the box to change the wiring everytime was a bitchhhh.

but still i was suprised the v4000's were putting something out at .3ohm. ill letcha guys know. probally do the d3's and mmats very soon too.

oh boy am I ever glad to pass on the burden brought on by the weight of the Treo's to someone else. Take care of the subs guys as they were both practically brand new, and give us more tests.

Day 2

today started off great. We got 2.5 sheets of mdf cut up to build two new boxes to try out. the boxes were together real quickly, but soon encountered some jigsaw problems. those aside, the only box tested during the day was a 5.5 cu ft box with sub both facing up on the passenger sid,e and a slot port on the drivers side. port being 80 sq in. and tuned to 45hz, the visonik v900xd's were set up and burped. we seen a 151.6, this being a .3 drop from the toher fully moded boxes, compared to a box that hasnt even been glued together, nor experiements inside the box.

the afternoon was spent eating pizza and the arrival of two d3's. they came, and the day went downhill. testing and the output was all distorted, something had gone wrong sometime with the rcas. output was unstable, and extrememly high. tried the v4000's and same thing, so the day came to a hault in the early evening. but i did manage to scream a 165 in the mic just need to find a new deck to use to have a nice podium set up makin things easier, and solve the rca problems, damn signal porcessors and dvd players!

tomorrows first task will be to obtain a cd player, then proceed by testing all three sets of amplifiers out on the one box. once the amplifier is found at the correct impedence, then a box will be determined to "add onto" pics will be up sometime this week as well....

i think there is something wrong with Cutris' deck or the processor with respect to rca output. u guys need to pull the deck out of the dash and disconnect the navi unit and then run the rca's from the SubOut on the deck straight into the amp with no line drivers or anything. i bet that will fix your problem. also with the navi unit hookedup it messes up all the audio controling settings on that deck and u cant even set it right. I had the same deck as Curtis does just no navi unit and i could have full control of every audio aspect anything from Balance to SLA to Sub Leven and Low Pass filter. i couldnt get to any of that with the navi unit connected.

once u get that taken care of put all the settings on flat, turn the sub crossover on the deck all the way up (i think it only goes to 125) while leavin the sub level at zero and try again but this time only use the volume **** to increase the output of the deck notch bo notch.

my settings were like this: SLA +1, EQ Low 0 40HZ, all other EQ settings (Mid and High) dont matter, Sub Level 0 125hz, and bass and trebble were all flat. gain on the D3 is about 4/5th
