dB Drag Racing Announces World Finals Expansion
For Immediate Release

The dB Drag Racing Association has announced that it will be expanding the World Finals in an effort to include more contestants, while at the same time reducing the travel and lodging costs incurred by competitors. The World Finals is scheduled for the weekend of October 13-14, 2007 in Indianapolis IN and will incorporate "satellite locations" at 5 other venues around the World. In the United States, contestants can participate at one of three locations; Indianapolis IN, Orlando FL, or California. In Europe, contestants can participate at one of three locations; France, Greece, or Norway. All of the contests will utilize the Term-LAB measurement system which will then be linked together via the Internet. The event will also be broadcast live over dBTV.com.
"This expansion is absolutely essential", explains Wayne Harris, president and founder of the dBDRA. "Currently, dB Drag Racing is active in more than 40 countries around the world. In addition, two-thirds of our events and a significant number of our members are based in Europe. Until now, it has been impossible for these contestants to participate at the World Finals” said Harris. “Our mission is one of inclusion and growth. Even the cost for US contestants to participate in the World Finals has been restrictive as many competitors have been required to take off work for a week or more and travel thousands of miles to attend. By strategically locating access points throughout the US and Europe, we hope to minimize the costs contestants incur when participating in the World Finals. Attendance is also a critical factor. In a single-venue event (such as the 2006 Finals in Louisville), we are limited by space and judging time to a maximum of 200 contestants. This year, we hope to have 500 contestants participate in the World Finals. In time, we will be expanding the Finals to incorporate even more locations throughout the world. Ultimately, we hope to provide every country with an access point for participating in this truly global event."
The World Finals will be a "two-in-one" event. Each contestant’s qualifying score will be used in two distinct contests. The first contest is a regional 3X event for contestants that are physically present at the event. The second contest is the World Finals event that includes participants from all 6 access point locations. Prizes will be awarded for both contests. Points for both of these events will count towards the 2008 competition season. Scores from the Regional contest will qualify for 2008 World Records while the World Finals scores will qualify for 2007 World Records status. The World Finals competition is an invitation only contest while the regional finals will be open to anyone wishing to participate.
