Earthquake PHD2... How low?

How low can this monster burp? Could I run it at .5 ohms daily, or just for a burp...

The A Team 03-21-2007 11:40 PM

Monster? LOL
I had a few burped them @ 0.35, i wouldnt run then any lower then 2ohm daily because they are well known for spontaious combustion.

JohnnyToronto 03-21-2007 11:53 PM

Burped as low as .5 ohms, ran 2 daily at one ohm no problem. Sold one to a friend (this was a couple of years ago) and he still has it running at one ohm daily with no probs...seems to me that certain D2's were better than others as the ones I had never had any problems, but I know a lot of guys who blew them up regularily (Yuli).
BUT I wouldn't recommend running it, or any amp daily at .5.

The A Team 03-22-2007 12:03 AM

Yes the D2 aka shredder, got its name because it would destroy subs, not due to big power, bt because of its very very dirty power. There are 2 kinds of D2s the black ones and the grey ones. I hear the blacks were stronger, that is what i had, but they were very inconsistant in comps.

Prolifik 03-22-2007 03:18 AM

0.5 burp

daily it doesnt really matter, its just a matter of time til it blows up

PT-Chris 03-22-2007 08:00 AM

And sooner or later....they ALL blow up

ShockingCanada 03-22-2007 08:04 AM

...

They are good amps for the money though. Although I must say that the D3s are wayyy better as they are solid as a rock and the D2s you worry constantly if today is the day it will die.

FusionMadsen 03-22-2007 10:28 AM

Hahaahahah, this thread is very re-assuring... So basically this thing is a ticking time bomb?

Prolifik 03-22-2007 11:41 AM

doesnt taliban use re-furbished D2's to conduct a suicide attacks? just install 50 of those into one car, drive by a place and crank the volume so there is some strain on the amps.........BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

FusionMadsen 03-22-2007 11:44 AM

Lol... It would cause an earthquake :)

Whatever, I'm stil gonna run this beast.

ShockingCanada 03-23-2007 10:35 PM

...

just run it at two ohms and it will probobly be fine. don't daily drive it at 1ohm...you can but its risky and not worth it

The A Team 03-24-2007 03:24 AM

This thread should be called EQ D2 How Long? How long before it catches fire that is.

Dubsport27 03-24-2007 11:18 AM

This amp will easily burp at .35 ohms and run at 1 ohm daily. We had 32 of them on 8 quad coil 15's running at .35 ohms for a whole season and only blew 4 amps due to a short in a subwoofer.

Mr.American Bass 03-24-2007 12:54 PM

Tom Adams AKA-SPL CHICKEN how many did you fry in 1 burb 8 to bad i owned them but they blow up even if there not hooked up. Ps the black version is not stronger or have more output and all depends who modded them for u and what parts the replaced.

Haunz 03-24-2007 01:23 PM

if you ever need one repaired you can get more powerfull fets that are totally compatable and are basically the same price - make sure you buy those -
