I have been asked buy a few friends what equipement would be the best for them going to an amature SPL show, so lets hear what you ALL have to say the budget is 800-1000 this would be for 1-2 amps and 1 12" woofer. my personal suggestion was 1 12 RE SX and seeing as he already has a MTX get one more, and or strap them together, I beleive he said that paticular model can be strapped

what mtx amp does he have?

I know you said amatuer, but how serious is he about spl? If he plans on getting really serious go two "10's instead of 1 "12 more surface area and you can usually put more power, in my opinion!

I am not to sure on the model he has, he is set on getting 1 12 this year, next year he's going to 10's
I think for his price he may be better off getting a effiecent 12 instead of 2 10's that will be loud at first but then wear out over time, you never know in the SPL world, it always comes down to testing trial and error.
I think he may be able to hit around 142-146 with 1800 rms only time will tell

Does your friend have the second mtx amp yet?

1800rms I dont really know what two strapped mtx amps give you that much power! Only two I can think of is 1501d or 81000 and they would give more like 2300 watts rms. Next, closed is 801d.

Excluding brand new line of mtx amps.

Go with a DD2512 and the MTX amp. Depends on what amp he has already to stay within the budget.

Well if that re sx "12 can handle 3000+ watts of power that thing should rock, but if you have the extra cash or if you are planning to compete in idbl, you should seriously look into getting 2 "10s!

1. more cone space
2. can handle more power
3. if your going to compete in idbl you are only aloud 1 amp per sub
4. in my opinion two subs look better then one

if you treat them with respect they will handle more than 3000 watts and alot depends on box design also...
I agree if competing in IASCA then go 2 10's
1 vs 1 the Mmats 3000.1 is 0.7 dB louder than the American Bass 200.1 at 0.5 ohms but the AB amps are strappable
