ya I was going through the Exile forum last night and read all the reviews about them running all day at .5 and 18volts which is crazy guess I wont have an issue but it would be nice to run 2 strapped for 4800wrms instead of 2400wrms.

 

2 amps @ 2 ohm will do the same score as one amp @ 0.5 ohm

 

in theroy yes but the measured output of the 2400.1@.5 is around the 3800-4000wrms range and two of them strapped at 2ohms is 4800wrms thats good for .4-.6 of a db

 

not in theory, tested... they will do the same score

 

I would be willing to go out on a limb and say that Lessy is closer to being accurate, but only 1 way to find out,

 

hmmm, I really doubt that amp could do that much power... maybe at 18volts

 

Will the amp be happy with only a 800CCA primary and 1k CCA secondary at .5 ohms?

.5 ohm on a burp will draw close to 200amps according to Exile so 1800cca should be ok I would think.

from what you said these amps double in power output going from 2 ohm to 0.5 ohm? again, who is lying to you? is this not a 1 ohm amp?

the amp will not make 4000 watts, i dont think it will make half of that. it probably wont be very good for spl. i dont think thats a very good amp overall, but what do i know.

Lessy is right about 0.5 ohm and 2 ohm.

here is another thing, if your sub is quad 2 why not run 2 amps at 1 ohm each to a each pair of coils? would be better than one amp at 0.5 or 2 at 2 ohm. Im not sure why/where you got the idea of runing the amps at 2 ohm at all??

what "I" think you should do is strap the pair at 0.5 ohm, so each amp sees 0.25 ohm. hooking it up any other way (one amp at 0.5 or two amps at whatever other load) would probably be a waste of time if you are tryin to go for good spl numbers. If they smoke, then they smoke, in that case you will know they were doo doo to begin with.

The one amp will not make 4000wrms I made a mistake sorry but it will make close to 3000wrms at .5 ohm.

ummm straping 2 amps at 2ohms is running each amp at 1ohm only the master amp controls i.e. gain and xover control both amps instead of setting both amps up sepreatly.

Dont worrie I know your not cutting my stuff up cause obvously you need to do some more reasearch on these amps.

there are guys running 18v .5ohm with no issues please do some reading B4 you bust my *****
