Thanks Steve

deeper bass is what seems to be louder to your ears... SPL has many more factors that change with each and every vehicle... found that most integras I worked with peaked at 53-55Hz

ok if that is all you want to know... 30hz will sound low and deep and travel. people will hear you coming from far away... 50 hz will be still be pretty deep but will be more punchy and hard...

hint ported will be much louder when in your car winows closed and will get a little louder when you open them... sealed will be sort of loud when windows are closed but will appear to have a huge increase in sound when you open the windows

[/QB]</font>
interesting, how does your theory work when different cars, woofers and alignments are used, or is it just always that way, how about if the box is tried in different locations in the same car, say, in the trunk, in the back seat, in the front seat for instance [/QB]
do me a favor... try it then complain that you wasted your time... the guy asked a simple question... I replied in as general as possible way to create minimal confusion... and btw...most of the time someone will place a subwoofer box in the cargo area of the vehicle not the back seat or passenger seat! where it will make your statement a total waste of time

edited for smart ass comments...

i thought my questions were logical. how does you idea change with box types and vehicles? why will you hear a 30hz note farther away than a 50 hz note if they are at the same amplitude? i as well would like to hear more about the sealed vs ported with the windows open and closed phenomenon you mentioned. these arent smart ass questions, but ones that deserve a resonable explenation as you seem to make some pretty serious claims, and answer as if you should be able to explain your suggestions

I could answer your questions..but thats not what it is about... its about answering bigsliks question... and you chose to correct my simple answer

a guy off the street walks into a store and wants a box that will play low... will you put it in his passenger seat? think about it... especially if he drives a 1990 Acura Integra

a guy walks in off the street and asks you a question, you answer him, he doesnt quite understand your ansewr and asks you to explain, you cant. see, now i totally understand'

btw, i didnt correct any of your ansewrs, just asked you to explain them. the point wasnt if a customer put the box in a position other than the cargo area, but what would happen if he did

Prolifik 09-15-2005 06:21 AM

you could probably use some fancy theory to explain this but if the guy asks the type of question he asked in the first place chances are he will not understand some fancy theory either.
MTA gave a simple enough answer.....or was he supposed to get into tangents and cosins just for you?

defro13 09-15-2005 06:46 AM

i questioned how accurate his answer is. misinformation isnt education. no tangents needed. the questioned was asked because he wanted to get educated. just a simple answer isnt always educating. the original thread starter didnt stike me as a simple and probobly could have followed along and be helped to understand the answer rather than just be told thats the way it is.

well he did strike me as simple thus i find MTA's answer sufficient enough. In addition, I would like to point out to you that the original thread owner has replied thanking MTA for his answer and indicating that the answer given was exactly what he was looking for.
thanks for comming out.

defro13 09-15-2005 07:19 AM

you found him simple, this from a guy that couldnt figure out a loc by himself, your funny. anyway, sufficient as the answer may have been to you(who claims to be informed) and to him(who claims to uninformed), it wasnt really accurate at all which is why i asked him to clarify. the original thread starter was likley satisfied because he knew no better and thought that the answer to his question was right. which is where some more information would be very useful
