most of their work is done on paper and computers. They look at getting higher numbers a different way then North Americans. The first thing they did was learn how the Termlab sensor reads SPL. Then built boxes/vehicles.

no i do not but i have been thinking of opening one of my sensors up to see what is inside. However I do know that velocity has more to do with the high numbers then actual pressure.

Hrm.. interesting.. thanks for sharing

I think you'd be a bit nuts for opening up your sensor though, those things are expensive!

Man it just doesn't stop...how loud can you make a street vehicle. Before I thought if you were just over 150 you were loud but not in comparision.

Hey I know someone who opened his sensor, not as much in there as you might think. Yes I thought he was crazy but it's worth a look if you want to figure out what makes them tick.

There are 2 factors that help them.

First is the vehicles they have. The Fiat Panda is a very small car with a high resonant frequency. Both of those help get a higher street score.

The other is that they work their butts off. They really do have a great ammount of dedication to the sport and competing in general.

I've also heard that they don't really have any secrets over there. Anything that helps them get loud is shared in an open forum to help everyone. You don't see that on the english speaking boards

OH.. and as for the Extreme score being so high. Mikko is just a freak
The resonant frequency has not so much to do with why those cars are so loud, Curtis proved that again in his CRX last year, their resonant frequency is what? 50hz? All the loud ones are burping much much higher than that. The major reason the Europeans are way louder, is not because anything is in their favour as a lot of people would like to believe, but because they do thousands of hours of consistent testing, key word being CONSISTENT. You are very right Jordy, they have a HUGE amount of dedication to the sport and that goes a long way as far as scores show obviously.

I will agree...it is ALOT of testing and coffee that makes them LOUD...maybe Tim Hortons has been trying to help us all these years with the roll up the rim to win...hint hint...aero ports... hehehhe

There's not much inside Jordy.

I'll take a pic one day.
