Question

HI there, this isn't really technical, but you SPL freaks should know tons about this, so I thought that I'd ask here. Im looking for a ZR1000, if anybody has one. but I was told they draw unreal amounts of power, what fuse rating does it have? and where does all this power go exactly? I know its not really un-efficient or anything, does it load extra emphisis/ample power into modifing the harmonics of the sound or what the heck is going on? I need it to run one 400 watt RMS sub at 2 ohms. I know its over kill getting this amp, but I want something with ample power. Besides, what exactly is the power specs of the amp anyway? This seems to be quite a mystery to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm not too sure about it being too too inefficient, but I know they are pretty under-rated. To my understanding they usually put out around 1200 watts. (Although I don't know into what ohm load that is)
But I'm sure mooree than enough power!

Look for a different piece. The ZR1000 is overkill for your application.

This amp is happier and more efficient at higher impedences anyways. At 4ohms mono it will give ~1400rms with a good electrical system. The ZR's are not known to be the most efficent amps in the world but they do make good clean power.
At 2ohms mono it will do less than the 4ohm rating and it will be even less efficient.

Again stated, look for a different piece.

hey!! i've found that the zr1000's make alot more power as impedance drops.
@1ohm they produce almost as much as a mojo(2000rms)
do you still work at CC on mac Trail?

You might want to look for a ZR240 or more likely a ZR360... speaking of which there is a 360 for sale i believe.
