MT Box Help

I need to make a box for my 18" MT..how big and how much port would be a good starting place?

the only suggestion i have had so far is 2.5 cubes...any other ideas?

2.5 cubes for a 18?

That sounds a touch low for a ported box...

U can also call RE Audio direct and let the tech support guy know your vehicle, application, resonant freq, woofer, power, etc and he can design a good box for your MT that'll hit your goal.

9 cubes after displacement @ 35hz with 150 square inches of port area

35 hz is a little low for an SPL tuneing isnt it?

sorry, thought that would of been a given, just cuz its posted in the spl section.

i dont want the best of both worlds, just an all out SPL monster.

9 cubes and 35 hz is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to big and low from what i have heard for an SPL set up.

anyone with any real world testing that knows what they like spl wise?

You never said you wanted spl that is a good daily box and I have messed with 18" MT'S

Do 4.5- 6 cubes at 43hz

well i assumed you would of thought it was for SPL considering it is posted in the SPL section...but w/e...and cool....4.5 at 43, still a little low, but cool, thnx...and im assuming like 150 in2 of port?

i geuss i should also mention its gonna have 2 orion 2500's running it....dont know if that will make a diffrence in box size or not, just thougt id tell ya

You really dont know what to tune it to right now unless you know what your car/suv/truck peaks at.

ChrisB 06-13-2007 07:53 AM

4-6 cubes, port area depends on tuning

boombox 06-13-2007 10:27 AM

I would try that in gross volume with port displacement and sub displacement. Lets start here what kind of car / truck do your drive ? do you want to go daily or for SPL because the box has a certain hight so you might want to see out the back window....we dont know so tell us more so we can give you a hand.
