Please post on this, and get as many people to post as well.. maybe post this on other forums as well, and let us know which ones.. we really need to find out what people want!

Once again i ask to get some help from competitors..

To create better shows for you guys I need to know a few things..

1. What is a good entry fee? (Remember, entry fee is proportional to prizes )

2. What do you want in the way of trophies/prizes?

3. What is a good start time (for a day show and for an evening show)

4. What classes do you think should be offered (for dbdrags and for "local" shows)

5. Anything else I missed that you think we should or shouldn't do.

For myself..

1. $15-$20 (I'd rather it be cheaper and have no prizes, just points though.)

2. I'd personally rather the entry fee be as cheap as possible, and just get my points. Or cash prizes are good too

3. For day shows, 11am-12am registration, show starts at 12am. For night shows registration from 5pm-6pm, show starts at 6pm.

4. Street A, Street B, Street C, Open Street Max, Open Super Street, Extreme for points only.

5. I'd like to see more support from manufacturers. More giveaways and other stuff to make the day more exciting.

1. 20-25, if no prizes, what's the point? Not all of us need/want points to goto finals.

2. Like I said, if no prizes, really, most people won't wanna come. Don't need HUGEEE trophies, but something nice, and maybe a raffle or other types of prizes so everyone has a chance to get something.

3. If shows actually started on time, it would be better than having a "good" time. I say 11, only because in reality it would actually only start at 12. (I would say 12, but then we all know it wouldn't start until 1 or later). Actually that's my biggest beef with shows, is they never start on time, it's basically just come whenever you want because we won't be started anyhow type of thing. It sucks for the people who travel from far to be there on time, or earlier, and still have to wait until long after start time. The chase show comes to mind for this... But yeah, that's my .02

4. Umm what you said sounds good.

5. Umm maybe more advertising, having a lot of people at the shows is what makes it fun. Like you said, giveaways would be cool. Maybe a raffle, other stuff like that.

i think u should somehow separate 'pros' from regular daily beaters in the way of prizes and ranking.

say u have Street A and there are like 10 ppl in, say we got Tom, Johhny and Worble in that class along with 7 other 'local kids'. we all know who's gonna take top 3 and beat everyone else by significant ammount of db's. so I say you also have 1-3 places amongs those 7 'local kids' and give them some kind of a prize.

I think Yuli's got a great point. Many of the local's likely have never had their car's on the mic but want to know what it will do. To get raped in their class by the pro's isn't going to help their confidence and many will give up participating.
Give the people starting out some competition in their class (knowledge level) and it may help dramatically.
Plus many want to beat the kid in their town worse than the pro's coming from out of town.

I've actually had the discussing about competitions starting on time with a few competitors, and we pretty much came to an agreement that generally it can happen for 2 reasons.. 1. the show promoter was unorganized, or 2. Competitors always show up late.. If at the last second a croud of people show up and you need to register them all, it's very hard to start ontime..

The only problem with what Yuli said is how do you do that? And how do you do that with keeping costs down? It sounds really stupid but trophies are really expensive.. expecially for what they are.. but if you guys can come up with a good way to do that.. I'd love to hear it, and I would use it for all my shows..

I agree with pretty much everything JT has said here.

1 - I don't go out for points because there aren't even close to enough shows in my area to make it worth my while. So it's nice to go home with something at the end of the day.

2 - Again, like JT said.. you have to decide if you want serious competitors or locals. If you don't give something out then the locals will feel gipped. They may enter a show, place well and still have nothing to show for it. So what's their incentive to return?

3 - I think your idea of registration from 11am to 12 am is just a bit on the long side. I mean, if you really need 13hrs to register people, then you have problems. 11am to 12pm is probably better.

Seriously though, 11/12 is a good time because people coming from out of town don't have to leave their houses at 4am, and it gets the show over early enough in the day that you can still go out and do something else.

4 - The classes listed sound good. Just make sure that people are classified properly. At the show last weekend we had people with 2 12's or 1 15" in Street A until Jon mentioned it to the judges. They straightened it all out though.

5 - The show I was just at was sponsored by like 4 different manufacturers (Alpine, Pioneer, RF, and Clarion).. they gave some stuff away and it was great. Even if you didn't go home with a trophy you could still walk away with some good stuff. One local guy got trounced in Street B (2 12's in a Grand Prix with a back seat that wouldn't fold) but he still walked away with a 10 or 12" Type S sub. Not too bad for a $20 entry fee.

In all honesty though Chris, it sounds like you do your best to put on a good show. I think that is all that most of us want. Someone to actually care enough to try and follow the rules, and try to get things done as well as possible.

What would people rather see.. cheaper entry fee's and smaller trophies, medium entry fees and medium trophies, or high entry fees and large trophies?

BTW.. I posted my opinions just to get people started.. I by no means plan on running any shows on what I want.. it's all about the competitors.. it's about what YOU want.. so let me know..

okie... here's my 2c worth... I've been competing for almost 10 years now and all I ever here is why are the trophies so tiny for a $30+ entry fee.. or why is my cash prize less than my entry fee............... tough solution but here's a try

1..$20 entry fee ( if atleast 10 guys show up it will cover the cost of decent trophies or make decent cash prizes

2..Trophies, any newbie to the sport wants to show off the trophie he won at a show... they're the hope of the sport continuing( I ran a show with the help of Chris B last Canada Day and only lost $30 on the show due to late advertising but also only charged $15 for entry but had nice trophies (3rd place was over 12" tall) that guys were happy with and cost $230 after taxes yes for all of them.

3.. 11-12 is perfect... gives the guys plenty time to get to the show especially ones travelling 100+ km..and most shows are weekends ...who wants to be up early?

4.. Newbie or amateur max 2 subs (10 or 12" only) & <1000 watts kinda like the mini street they used to have at some shows, then the rest of the classes like mentioned above. Give POINTS as if full classes were run, that way guys that are planning or going to the World Finals will get the points they need for their invite. Street Max classes usually get demolished by Super Street atleast give them the points

make the car go boom

sup boyz

well first as for points at a local shop i wouldnt bother because there is not enough shows in canada for db drags its to hard to earn enough points to get to the finals so lets get the new guys out competeing let the pros be there to show off and costs down so the poor kid that just blew his whole wad on a new amp, sub ans box play too i found that gift certificates work well because you give the guys some cash and your gaurenteed a customer in the future and make it fun have scream offs and raffles start on time and let it go late if need be everyones in it for the fun we all know you cant make money comepeteing right!!!
