New RF amp revealed at CES
#31
Its totaly possible to run 4 amps under one case stacking them together to give it that 15000rms wattage , makes alot of sence if the circuts were ready for a 4 channel and switched to produce 2 channel
lots of bling and would probably weight 450lbs or more

Hey Tim if it makes you feel any better I think for 20 large this thing is 2x as ghey as the jackhammer....
J/K... nothing is that ghey
225K joules equates to over 1000F of capatance so it must have a battery reserve, or some combination.... I dont think they would use their patented carbon banks cause that would f up its performance but you never know with RF...hopefully they just used several F of low esr electrolytic capatance before and after the psu and a bank of batt cells....
and yes it will pull 400+ amps on average with output headroom up to 15000 and the duty cycle of music just like any combination of amps/batteries producing the same amount of power.... duh..
Its neat and all but common... its just alot of marketing fluff... it might be a viable option if you want 15000 watts but for 20grand ?? more of a collectors piece for RF fanatics I guess.. ??
the MTX would be cool too... if it wasn't unusable... 350lbs is not inovative and I don't see how its cool either... just lame.. as is the mounting depth...
bigger is not necassarily better... and the price tag is rediculous....
edit: but thats just my opinion..

Haunz,
What combination of amps/batteries can produce 15000 watts of CEA2006 compliant power and only draw 450 amps from the charging circuit?
I am not aware of another amp that can produce 15K watts but if there is one, it would draw around 1300 amps.
I have not had the pleasure of using one of these new amps but according to the ROFO engineers it will produce close to 20K watts of RMS power.
There will probably only be 1 or 2 sold in Canada at the retail price, but that is not why ROFO manufactured the amp. It is statement piece of new technology and we will see this new technology in main-stream ROFO consumer products in the years to come.

the claims of only pulling 450amps to make 15000 watts is based on the dynamic nature of music...
Iam sure there are a few amps up to the challange
where four could be combined for 15Kw+
And although with music they may pull 1200+ RMS amps as a maximum, you will see they will average more like 400 as well....
RF just stuck a batt or large carbon caps inside a chassis with 4 other amps and acts like its inovative or something special that no one else's amps can do....
infact, everyone's amp/batt combo already behaves the same way
running 15Kw out of this amp continuously would definatly require 1200+ amps or it would 'go dead' and then you would be SOL...

Haunz,
Based on traditional class A/B or Class D amplifier technology your statements are fairly accurate.
This new amplifier is using new patented technology that you or I have never seen before.
Why are you trying to compare 4 amps combined together with this amplifier? Is it at all relevant?
You state that ROFO stuck a batt or large carbon cap inside the amp. Which one is it? The batt cap or carbon cap?
I have pictures of the inside of the amplifier and it has neither, It does have a good quantity of regular electros though.
Haunz, the amplifier draws 30 amps for every 1000 watts. Producing 15000 watts of CEA 2006 power means it will draw 450 amps of current.

lets see the pics.. !
it is impossible to make 15000 continuous watts of power from 450amps at 14.4v... you and RF want to make it sound like you can...
what cea rating are you refering to 500 Watts RMS X 4 @ 4 ohms ? Iam real impressed.. and yup it could do it while pulling 60amps on average but only with program material with 1:3 crest factor
So average power is 660 watts with peaks at 2000 instantanious watts...
At full burp putting out the a solid 500x4 continuous watts I guarentee it will start to pull 180amps after its reserve runs out
thats not CEA as far as I know
