i was just looking at results from 2x shows in ontario, and noticed you guys only have like 3 people that compete in each class, and was curious if thats how it is all the time? is it those one or two louds guys in each class that discourage everyone or what, because oyur population down there is alot larger than ours.

and one more question, out this way (manitoba-west) ive talked to alot more people that want to compete now, as in it may be alot larger once again. is it the same case in ontario, or is the problem that shows just arent advertised, ebcasue we all know that a big percentage of cars do have systems out there.

as for the spl shows in ontario, its a bit of both. first shows of the year we have alot of ppl in street class then couple cars start to dominate that class by like 10 db's and then as the season goes on ppl just dont enter into street class anymore b/c they know they are gonna get smoked by the same couple of cars over and over again.

Ya-at least they are offering mini-street at most comps now.
Mabey that will get the attendance level up where it should be.

What's mini-street about?

I'm considering getting my Pathfinder set up with essentially a removable SPL setup, something that was basically going to fit the format of the Street 1-2 classification, with either my PHD2 or this freaking Harrison 2400x2...
But I've got this 9515 here that would be such a great candidate for an SPL install, I haven't used it since I got it back from DLC months ago...
Any chance the mini-street class is good with single 15's?

Let me know about the competition classes you guys run in, I'd be likely to hit a few of those up, if you are anywhere south of (or in) Toronto.
But tell me about mini-street..

lol, your well over 600 watts and have a 15, they wont put you in ministreet to start off. possbily if ministreet is low on people, and you were 9th or worse in street A, they may bump you down just to fill the brackets, but otherwise, your in street A as long as you follow all rules and regulations on www.termpro.com

good luck, and its a good system to start out with, if you want another 9515, gimme a shout

mini street power cap is normally 1500 rms. pretty much your daily buping set up..and them some more. no extra batts or anything like that.
let me give u an example of mini street competitors: last 2x we had in Toronto top 2 competitors for mini street had one 12 and one 1500 watt amp. although the gear itself wouldnt suggest that those two were regualr off the street guys with systems. one had a memphis mojo 12 with a memphis 1500D amp and the other one had one Inhuman 12 with a RE 1500 watt amp. the socres were 141.4 and 141.5 respectively (on the new meter) 141.5 was hit by my girlfriend (just thought i add that in there )

agreed.. that's why I push for it at every comp.. I don't compete in it, but I think it's an important part to get new faces into it..

and not everyone wants to goto street a and get killed by yuli I personally dont mind.. as everyone can tell lol..

Well, I'm not really starting out, I've just never done SPL before, I'm a SQ guy mostly.
I'm actually going to most likely do an all-passive setup (sort of like I did way back with this firebird -click "firebird install"), with an Alpine MRV-1507 I have here, that'll be my daily driver, with some little sub in the back, stealth, and nothing fancy.
The big amp (and probably close-coupled extra battery), and whatever SPL sub setup, won't be in there on a daily basis.

As far as mini-street goes, it seems too vague, up to the event coordinator as to what the actual rules are, right?
I can go smaller, in cone area - I have got a 10" XXX here, still have my three 10W6's (but they are in the Civic, for no good reason I have the PHD2 and PH2.5 in there right now ), an older 15" XBL2 prototype, a 12" proto, and I always wondered what my PG Cyclone would do (except I've dismantled it ). I don't know, I've got some other stuff around...

But I don't think the single 10" would do much (since my interior and seats are going to remain stock), and I don't think they even allow the Cyclones.
Regardless of what Scottie Johnson is doing, I also don't regard the XBL2 woofers as being ideal for SPL competition, and hell, I'll never do anything else with this 9515.

The Pathfinder is also a blank slate right now, I picked it up to replace my Hardbody (which I'm selling, line-array install and all )
I've got two runs of IXOS 1/0 gauge strung through it, but really nothing else right now. An amp rack for the 1507 and a head unit.
One of these days I'll get to working on it, hopefully before it starts snowing.

How competitive are these classes, on southern Ontario?
I could always compete with the Civic, with the three 10's, as it is now (heck, they don't care if the PHD2 sounds like garbage).
Maybe I'll just come out for fun anyway, if I hear of any.

I've always sort of disliked SPL competition personally over the past 10 or 12 years, since it was always a highest-dollars-invested wins sort of venture... power classes were always circumvented, etc.
Only recently, the street 1-2 class (and even super street) has really sounded like fun, because they put real constraints in place that make sense... but I don't believe they allow single 15's in the class.
Arg.
