Not sure if that would work for an SPL box... the port doesn't seem wide enough..

^^^^ Same with my car, even where the subs and/or ports are placed makes a difference in the fequency... If I fire my port to the trunk or the side of my trunk then it's 48-49hz, but when I fire it into the cabin it drops to 42hz. Its the wierest thing and can only be found by testing.

another thing, if your car does peak at 53hz u should probably tune alot lower, like 45hz maybe or less. most hatch boxes should be tuned 7-10hz lower than the car's peak, that is the starting point anyways. So if i was you i would make the port longer instead of shorter.

once u get subs/amp bring it over to Chris' place and we can figure it all out.
I get my car back Friday. I will load the box with 2 Memphis 4ohm subs and find my impedance rise to determine weather the final 2 sub setup will be 1ohm or .5 ohm load. I have not talked to Chris yet but I will see if I can go by Sunday to test.

When the golf at finals liked 53hz, the box was an L port ... it also faced upwards towards the back window. I have no clue to what firing backwards will do. Peter may know with all of the testing that he has done with his car.
