Question on ohms?

Just thought on my mind, and I’m sure some of the veterans have tried this before.

If I have a pair of dual 2 ohm subs, and I need a final load of 2ohms. Does it make a difference if I wire each sub to 4 ohm, then down to 2ohm, or if I were to wire each sub to 1 ohm then back to 2 ohms?

This is purely for numbers on a meter.

I don't believe it makes a difference. However, I would wire the voicecoils on each sub in parallel for 1 ohm, then wire the subs in series to bring the load back up to 2. My logic is that each voicecoil would "see" the exact same signal in that configuration. Though I'm positive it wouldn't make a difference.

i predict that you are goning go get some "solid" replies on this. Let the theories flows.

but really, your best possible configuration to get the best number would be go wire everything in parallel to get 0.5 ohm.

Wiring to a high load like 2 ohms wont make any difference in how the coils are hooked up

Ok then. Same question with 0.5 coils on each sub. Bring them up to 1 then back to .5, or bring them down to .25 then back up to .5

down to 0.25 ohm first, then back to 0.5

actually if u want most out of your subs you should wire the coils in series...then parrallel down to your final load... either way your amplifier sees the same final load but your motor strength is increased in this wiring.... weather this actually helps in YOUR spl score and application is totally up to you to test.

The only real difference I noticed when wiring down and then back up was a greater strain on my electrical. Don't know if it was coincedence or not though.

electrically to what your amplifier draws there should be no real significant difference.
