Single 15 or 4 low end 10s?
Ok, this isnt an SPL build for competing, but aiming for a loud sounding daily setup.
I currently have Deezy's old APX 15" "frankenwoofer" in my tercel.
I'm not planning to compete anymore, but still want something loud just for listening (i like to overpower everything with bass).
So i am debating on either keeping the 15" or going with 4 10" Cerwin Vega Stealth series subs.
Which would you guys do? I realize with an SPL setup i could probably do better with the single 15", but i am wondering if it would "sound" louder with the 4 10s?
Also wouldnt mind usin a lil less power too. The Stealths are only rated for 200Wrms a piece, so i wouldnt need as much power to push them to their potential.
The other problem i have with the 15" is that it is in a fairly small trunk, so the only way i could install it is to have it firing up against the trunk lid. It has about 3" clearance from the trunk lid. The port is firing in. I tried firing it back and it was alot quieter, so i had to fire it in.
The sub also technically needs a recone (looks horrible right now), so instead of putting the money towards the recone i figured i would get the 10s....IF people here think its a good idea that is.

APXs sound like , I had Yulis 12 on 1500w. If you ever buy a sub from an SPL competitor that means there's better and it also sounds like crap. If a BTL sounds anything like it than I'll be disappointed, it's a pure SPL sub, although it dropped harder than my XXX below tune, the lows were very pronounced. Get the 4 10s.

I just looked up the Atomic APX15.
That's a beefy sub. Won't compress a whole lot
I'd pick the subs based on your power level. The 10's should work out to be more sensitive, but I haven't looked up any number to back that up and could be wrong.

After measuring over and over, it really doesnt look like there is gonna be a decent way to run all 4 of these 10s in my car if i wanna run a ported box. I had several box ideas but none seem to work for it. The main limitation is the trunk opening. It doesnt let me fit much in there. If i built the box right into the car it just might work, but i cant imagine that working too good without clamps or anything.
hehe
Gonna start looking into more options.
I wonder how they would sound running free air?
Block the trunk off with MDF, mount 2 10s in that, then mount 2 more 10s in the back dash?
Hmmm....
