for a dB drag event where you just "burp" a sub for a few seconds why not....
elimanate the amplifer and hook the sub directly up to the battery and have a quick way of cutting the power, that way the sub gets max power, now you would need a subwoofer that can take the abuse of course but it would play at its max abilities

ill take a stab at this, feel free to fill in where i missed anyone.
the diffrence is voltage type, an amp puts out AC current/voltage wich comes out in a sine wave, AC basically(like i said, basically) works that theres a positive spike, nothing, negative spike and so on (http://users.uma.maine.edu/faculty/rsm/slides/chap4/f4-3a.gif) . dc dosnt have a sine wave, and is just one way. its a stronger diffrent type of voltage. an amp converts it to usefull current.
if cars ran on ac it would work tho, it would be like taking a sub and plugging it into the wall. but cars work of the great dc.
anyways, hope i didnt miss anything, i just thought i would throw it out there for a change.

more or less, it would push it as far as it could and then just burn the coil up. try hooking a square 9v batt to a sub, its a way to check polarity, it will just move it one way. thats all a batterie would do, just with a tonne more current. the sub probably wouldnt last to long.

yep I've done the 9V battery trick, now I'm just wondering what the results would be on a termlab, gotta make some noise, although flames might be more exciting to watch then the pitiful sound it would produce

well you would have to set it up to switch it on and off and make your own type of wave, or else you would just gte one out pop and it would stay there, and i dont think the termlab picks up just one pop, im pretty sure it needs like a 2 second tone to comprehend the preassure. but i could be wrong.
