And there was no mention of competitor pricing on the Sundown 3ks. Maybe it's 50% less than the intro pricing, maybe only 5% and therefore very comparable, who knows. Until someone in the know gives us an idea of what it is, nobody here can call the comparison rediculous.

Sorry kind of went off there a bit
Who said anything about not declaring anything at the border?
Not everything you bring across the border demands duty charges on top of just GST you know
As for competitors making up 8-10% of the population - you're completely correct. But you're taking into account consumers who are looking at everything from tiny 2 channels up to monster SPL amps, and my guess (and it is a guess) is that the vast majority of amplifier buyers can be lumped into the 2000wrms and less category. I'd also guess that 3+kw amps likely only make up a minute proportion of all amplifier sales. I'd be very curious to see what percentage of customers buying 3, 4, 5kw amps actively compete. My money is on something ALOT higher than 10%, just based on all the time and money involved in getting the rest of the system up to snuff. Of course there are alot of groundpounder systems out there, but you see alot of those guys at comps, even if they aren't as serious about it as guys like Yuli.
And the whole argument about power ratings and what's cheapest stems directly from this comment you made:
You asked, I simply answered. And things slowly turned south after that
It sounded like hype to me, and I just don't like hype.
But you're completely right about customer service, which is why I think Sundown has a great thing going. We've been arguing about $$ per watt (when everyone knows that install is even more important), but CS is absolutely key. I'll spend money to make sure that I'm looked after. I run my gear daily (which is why I'm happy that Sundown is coming out with the 3k), and have the electrical to back it, but ***** happens.
Anyway, no more arguing on my end. I'll just patiently wait to see some test results of these things. If I don't find any more vfl150.1s soon, I'll be in the market for more power and these may fit the bill nicely
As for what's in the water, blame it on the chinooks
And the noobs just like to argue lol.

I also look forward to to proto coming north.
I will keep all informed.
Even at 12.5% including GST, that's still less tax for me than buying anything outside Alberta, and it's only another $60-70 more for anyone in Canada on a $1k amp. Not too big a deal IMO.
There are other good examples of excellent bang-for-your-buck 3k+ amps, like the D10, but I only mentioned the Atomic.
There's not much point in comparing MSRP, as anyone (competitor or not) can buy gear at less than MSRP. Look at the D10 - the MSRP is something like $2500US, yet I've seen them obtained for less than $1000Cdn new (and considerably less at comp prices if you're one of the lucky few).
But I absolutely agree that competitor pricing shouldn't be given to just any poor smuck. That's not always good for both parties.
I'm curious to see what the proto will do once you get your hands on it. If you can, could you please try to mention what impedance (nominal and after rise), voltage, current draw, music or tones, and electrical that was behind your numbers? I'm not asking much lol!, but I may be quite interested in a few if they're anywhere as efficient as the the 1500s are.
