SUV 's where to dynamat?
#1
So I want to dynamat my 2 door blazer for next year. Now I need to know where people with SUV's have had success putting sound deadener?
I have read a few conflicting views on doing the rear of the vehicle, and front doors. Personally this year I have seen loss in SPL (about 2 dB)just by useing duct tape to seal up the front door panels, in a cavalier. Then once we removed it, instant increase, well back to normal. From this I think that most street vehicles like to breathe just a little. Does anyone think it would be worth doing the doors still but leaving all the holes open? Sometimes I think it may just be better not to sound deaden, but I'm sure putting it in the right spots, it is worth it.
I'm only looking for other peoples expeiences with doing this, and I know the only way to know for sure is to test.

hahahaha my explorer was loving the sound deadner when i sued it! i used about 3.5 SHOP rolls of Brown Bread in my 2 door Explorer sport!
I gutted the whole interior, and rode it for like 3 days with a bar stool while i was doin it!

I would think, theoretically, that if you seal up the rear of the vehicle - that's a good thing.
But like you experienced with the duct tape on the door panels... if the vehicle breathes through the front, that would increase airflow rear to front, yes?
Theorizing (is that a word?) more, if you were able to completely seal a vehicle, except for say some holes on the firewall... That would be perfect... Maybe....
