Okay, I am trying to put together a winning spl sound system. So right now what I have planned is the new solox S18X Kicker 18" sub, powered by 4 Thunder1501D class mtx amps, or 5 if needed. Or should I go with the MTX RFL subs? What deck should I get? what deck is best for spl? Thanks.

For quick answers...

Don't use the SoloX even though it is Cool looking.

RFL are great SPL subs.

Pioneer 6500 and up would be my choice for decks.

There will be lots more question and I hope myslef and others can help.

The kicker solo-x seems to be a pretty good sub, but the mainstream brands usually seem to get beat out by the smaller companies. I would go for a shocker sig, a dd9917, or an RE MT myself, you can generally get them cheaper anyways.
Just curious, how were you planning on running 5 amps on one sub? I have a feeling that that won't quite work out. Since db drag will likely be restricted to DVC subs, if you strapped the 1501's, you could put four on a sub max.

As for a deck, mainly make sure it is a decent enough deck that it wont skip on burps. A decent pioneer or alpine should be fine. Make sure it has at least 4 volt outputs, or else buy a line driver to get enough input voltage to your amps.

Make sure your electrical is up to par with the power you are running too.

How serious are you? What class do you plan to compete in? And since shocker is out of business, i would suggest not going with them.

Actually Mike, the maker of shocker subs, is temporarily out of business because he didn't get the proper copyrights and whatever else you need to be a manufacturer. He will ba back soon, and says he has developped a sub that is better than the sig, so I am expecting some big things from Mike.

Okay so basically I am an 18 year old who got obsessed with car stereos a year ago. But with my part time jobs and my expensive party costs I only got to see the smaller side of car stereos. But now I have a full time job, and I still have my passion for car stereos I am going to go into it full force and as quick as possible. I move down to Vancouver from Whitehorse and I have been away from a good car stereo for too long, so after christmas I am spending my money on my car stereo. So I ask of you guys to give me good advice and help, so I can win spls

Are you planning on doing the install yourself or getting it done by a shop? Most shops have very little knowledge about doing large install, but a few in BC could do a decent job. Although it may take longer and may involve a lot of trial and error, I would try and do it yourself. The guys with loads of cash who get a $10000 system installed at a shop garner little respect from me. There are a lot of people on this board who can help you out.
Are you going to be competing? If so you should decide what organization (idbl, db drag, etc.) you will be competing so you can build the system to conform with their rules.

Oh wait a minute.. what class are you going to be in? What is the budget? What kind of a car? Those are the most important things to deciding what your looking for..

Yes I am going to be doing this install bymyself, I don't think I would be able to let someone else do it for me. My car is a Nissan Sentra Hatchback. And I am going to go into any class I can do and my budget lies in what I need to get to win.
