Just curious if anyone knows anyone running a tape player at any comps, if so what have they seen them hit?
Don't ask why, I'm just curious.

Well....when I entered my first SPL comp in 99,I had a Clarion cassette deck,an Apline V12 amp(150w)and a Denon papercone sub in a truck enclosure in the back of my 86 Nova htchbck.

I used a discman with a car adaptor and a euro-techno cd...

I hit 124.7 db with the box facing forward...

Don't know if that helps you at all,but the best I know of to mention...

Just remember...Don't fear the 8 track,worship it!!LMAO......JK.....

Good luck with whatever you have in mind...

This reminds me of a Pop Sci article I read a while back. There was a yellow Dodge Caravan that used a tape deck as its spl hu. The guy said he used this because cassettes do not skip.

Tape deck would not be ideal but you could use it. If you do compete in DB Drags you will need a cd player for double point events.

I'm curious as to how well it really worked...

I mean like an 8 track has a huge surface area, but a cassette has almost nothing...would be fun to try and play with....hmmmm???

Stop and think about it...

On an 8 track or even a reel to reel you have this massive amount of head space, which is why we think I get such good base response from the 8 track...
Now..on a cassette..very minimal surface area..how much of a frequency response could you really get?In particular the lows which as I understand(correct me ifI am wrong..newby here)would take more surface area..
Like really, how much of a bass response could one get from a cassette?
I know it doesnt make sense, but hey look whos typing here...freak of the century!!
