Yuli,

I am more of an SQ oriented person, I notice these sort of things. 99% of people that buy the 9500 want incredibly loud bass and wouldn't know the difference... sounds great to them. And if you are happy with it, thats awesome, glad to hear it. Quite likely your alignment covers up the air noise, so it's not an issue for you. Most of my customers don't notice it either, but I do when I sit in their vehicles.

And again, not to take away from the 9500 either... the channels are great for cooling. But there is a trade-off for them. They lose lots of potential BL, which is not a problem since they put huge magnets on to make up for it, and you get air noise. It might surprise you but I am in the process of designing several lines of subwoofers, so I do know a few things about whats going on inside of a woofer.

Honestly... I don't come here to argue with you. I'd rather not. You are a knowledgeable guy regarding SPL and you seem to try to help people when you can, thats great. Just keep in mind that other people might know a thing or two as well, and may have noticed things you haven't... and sure you have alot of trophies, but that doesn't mean you know more than people who don't have them. I'm sure that Wolfgang Klippel doesn't have very many SPL trophies either *laughs*

I won't even respond to your second statement as I'd rather not have an even MORE useless argument with you.

dude i didnt say anything about u knowing or not knowing whats goin on inside of a subwoofer, u dont have to prove yourself to me cuz it really doesnt matter.

lol i never said i know anything about spl period, i never claimed to have any knowledge. all i know is how to build a box and use a meter.

but i dont need any knowledge to tell you if there is any noise commin from a sub's motor, now do i ?

PS. you really do not have to say things like "You are a knowledgeable guy regarding SPL and you seem to try to help people when you can", if u think i dont know anything just say that. Your comments on my level of spl knoweldge are really insulting since you really do not know how much i know about spl (given i know anythin at all).

cool, finally a civil post from you.
You know, I really don't think he could put up better numbers than he's doing now unless he built a wall. For an 'average' crx style box in a tahoe he's doing damn good and yes, while he might be able to use different equipment and get 'similar' results, I don't think he can get BETTER results using something else. And we have to remember, it's not an SPL build either, it's a retardedly extreme street beater. But seeing as this thread is about spl subs, if he can do what he does with a musical setup, imagine what his equipment could do in an all out SPL build.
And I gotta agree with you about the SoloX's, while it's totally ghey they blow that much, in the end they put up numbers and that's what they're for.

my first post was civil but for some reason ppl tend to question it instead of just talkin it for what it is.

Steve can not get better or worse results using something else. it will all be rather similar.

Yuli,

If you don't hear the air noise, thats fine, great! I can hear it, so can my brother, and so can several other people that I know. What do we have in common? We like SQ setups... we have them in our own cars... when something a bit out of place, we hear it.

If you really still don't believe me that it's there, just take one out of the box and you'll hear it. It's incredibly loud out of box... it sounds like something is wrong with the sub. But, the fact is that I can still hear it when they are IN a box when that box is not in a trunk or rear-firing in an SUV -- in those two setups it is masked very well and they sound pretty decent for an SPL sub.

I've ridden beside my 9510s for probably 20 hours or so... and they make some incredible air noise when you are close to them. As do the other four 9500s that I had.

Seriously... what are we even arguing about? Can you hear it in your box and in your car? I guess not, thats what you say. But it's there, and you can easily prove it to yourself... just listen to them out of the box, you'll hear it. The air noise IS there man, sorry, it is. Does it bother everyone? Sure doesn't! It doesn't bother you and it doesn't bother many of my customers... but it sure as heck bothers me.

And why is this so important in a discussion about SPL subs? I don't know... but you did feel the need to call me an idiot rather than saying, "You know, I don't hear that air noise. What do you mean?"

And seriously... I'm not saying you don't know anything about SPL, I said the total opposite! I guess I don't understand you at all... I can't even acknowledge that you have knowledge regarding a topic without you taking it as the complete opposite. Just because you think I'm a total idiot and have no clue doesn't mean that I think the same thing in return... I just think you are a jerk and somewhat cocky based on how you act towards me.

similar agreed. But you definately can't say that FI sucks seeing what a guy like him can do with them. It's all in the user and the build, but let's keep on topic and for top 10 spl subs, FI's definately on the top ten. But I'm done arguing, I have better things to do with my day off. Cheers.

Seriously Yuli... I really don't want to argue with you. I'll call a truce on it. It's totally moot at this point and we are splitting hairs regarding an opinion on how bad the air noise is. Bothers some people, not others, agreed?
