Is it true a bandpass box will blow my W6's?

If you simply removed the plexi window, you'd end up with a ported enclosure that is much too small and tuned far too high ...

To me, it sounded like a "scare tactic" to try to get you to buy a new enclosure and/or subs.
I would give a ported enclosure a try. Greater output, better sound quality

Just design your own. Much more fun and you can build it to do exactly what you want. Or even better download the manual off of JLs website and build it to spec. In most cases they will give a regular box spec and a high output box spec. Choose to your liking, build and enjoy.

So, for 3 10W6s, you'd want a 3 ft^3 net internal volume with a port 3 times as large but the same length ...
External dimensions ...
3/4" MDF construction
H = 14.5" high
W = 33" wide
D = 18" deep
Port
SH = 13" high
SW = 3" wide
EL = 7.5" (port extension)
Cuts
H x W (front/back) = 14.5" x 33"
W x D (top/bottom) = 16.5" x 33"
H x D (sides) = 13" x 16.5"
Port wall = 13" x 13.5"
Port extension = 13" x 7.5"

Thanks JMac.. I think I'll try doing this on the weekend... just have to figure out if I can fit a box that big into my trunk.. otherwise i'll have to install it while in the car... which I doubt is an easy task with the Toronto winter approaching...

^ If you need a hand, let us know....there are lots of people on here from the GTA who will lend a hand if you ask...
As for authorized dealers in the GTA, Radioactive on Harvester Rd. in Burlington does great work...
Good luck with the subs.
