looking for suggestion on what woofers to use in a multipul sub setup. mainly for bassrace and daily driving. give me what you got!

creed 10-22-2005 04:15 AM

also not trying to go with alot of cash here, so be nice on what woofers you suggest please

Lessy 10-22-2005 06:14 AM

RE MT's
DD 9500's

both can take a beating and ask for more
:D ;)

creed 10-22-2005 01:19 PM

thats a big NO with re, and im not trying to take out a loan to pay for woofers here. haha

creed 10-22-2005 01:22 PM

what do you all think of kicker comp 10's or 12's????

Team Stupid SPL-Chris 10-22-2005 01:41 PM

not as good as RE and DD.period

Haunz 10-22-2005 02:01 PM

RE's entry line looks impressive and probably wont break the bank.....

Wagonized 10-22-2005 02:26 PM

REs entry line is awesome for the money or their SE line is that much better. Beyond that they start getting a bit pricey.

the good thing about bass race is you dont millions of dollars of gear, just need good control over it

Justin LaRouche 10-22-2005 04:28 PM

i am not shure why everyone is just mentioning spl woofers for a guy who wants to do bass race. he is probably not looking for the loudest subs but rather the most linier. an sq sub is probably more along the lines of your research! just read my most recent pm for something that is a little more up your ally.

MTA 10-22-2005 05:00 PM

Id go for something like an Audiobahn AW1200N or AW1205N they held up really awsome and you can recone them rather than spend money on a new woofer... they are 700 watts DVC 4 on the 1200's and 1000 watts DVC 2 on the 1205's they can really take a hell of a beating, they do well for SPL too but nice for daily driving aswell
wont break the bank

other than that RE SE or SX will definately do the job

Haunz 10-22-2005 05:57 PM

All of the subs mentioned have lots of linear throw....

ShockingCanada 10-22-2005 06:03 PM

if I were you I would get some kicker L7s...cheap and good woofers for daily and SPL...only question is if they will hold the power

JordyO 10-22-2005 06:08 PM

Some L5's may even do the trick... depending on the power he wants to throw at them!

Haunz 10-22-2005 06:21 PM

audiobahn offers recones for some of thier drivers ???

wow...

defro13 10-24-2005 06:38 AM

if you are just looking for bass race and daily driver oriented woofers, practically anything will be fine, the kicker comps 129.95 per 12" will be great, and it not a pile of junk

Justin LaRouche 10-31-2005 12:39 PM

i agree with dave ^^^^

BigBubba 10-31-2005 07:30 PM

and trust me, you can man-handle L7's.... 2400wrms.... need I say more....

RedZone 10-31-2005 10:16 PM

ive got an S10L5 ( kicker solobaric ) with ported box and amp for 350 . pounds well and sounds good. amp is a power acoustik LT980/2 560 rms at 4 ohms mono. grreat combo and gets loud . im from leamington and am in windsor on a daily basis for school if your interested

BigBubba 11-01-2005 09:29 AM

yes for daily drivers I would suggest an L5, they also can get loud on minimal amperage in a nice sized box.... and the response is great to all types of music....

Prolifik 11-01-2005 03:44 PM

2400 rms into an L7? u smoking crak again buddy? they are rated for like what? 900 rms? when u pop your L7's do you tell your dealer/distributor that you put 2400 rms into them?

Justin LaRouche 11-01-2005 04:56 PM

your right prolific that is the ratting on them but none the less he is running 2400 to them. oh and there not blow!

Prolifik 11-01-2005 05:13 PM

with due time. thats a clear case of gear abuse.

CBS Craig 11-01-2005 11:44 PM

hey Creed.I was thinking the same sort of application for woofers and am leaning to the Treo tsx myself, and some of my customers. seems to me they run about $200-$250.....but I am abit unsure on price

BigBubba 11-04-2005 08:57 AM

yes actually wade has seen my car numerous times and it's not gear abuse...... LBKC runs 5000 to each, well that's what he had in Kelowna I believe. I've only toasted one 10 L7 this year..... that was due to bad RCA's..... Prolifik 1 BigBubba 2

1.Are L7's reliable?
2.Do they come with custom coils?
3.Are they reconeable?

the answer to all of the above is...

NO

I run 1400wrms to one 12"L7 and it did me great until 9 consecutive runs in the heat at Okanagon Thunder last year and I cooked 1 coil.

Many shows since then, (literally) hundreds of demos at the store, my own taste for loud music and a first place finish in Bass Race at Canadian Finals(with 1 blown coil).

The reliability of these subs can not be questioned. They get pushed hard, continuosly and are always ready for more.

Jeremiah is even harder on his subs than I am and his sub failure was from an unforseen issue. Can't fault the sub or brand for that. The fact that he and I can attend a show, pound our gear mercilessly and then enjoy them for the trip home is a testament to the brands reliability.

They are available in 4 and 2 ohm DVC and then the SoloX is also available in 1ohm DVC.

I believe they are the most affordable competition calibre subwoofers on the market.

Look at most SPL shows and you will see Solobaric subs being the sub of choice among most of the competition winners.

The right sub in the right application can destroy anyones theory on what's the best but isn't that what we all try and accomplish with the hours of testing, travelling and competing?

Solobarics may not be the best sub in the world but they have earned the right to be counted among the few.

Haunz 11-05-2005 12:30 AM

PTHTTHHHT... kciker suckz facking balzz

seriously..... **** that ****.... and forget DD blah blah... yea the **** that gets loud must have the best SQ !!!!!!! not....

EDIT: Id still take DD over kiker...

at dbdrag finals, NO ONE used L7's, nuff said...

some ppl did use SoloX's, and only one guy finished top three with them... then he deathmatched and blew them

BigBubba 11-05-2005 08:32 AM

what did LBKC use? and there not a reliable sub? what do you mean? Man how reliable do you need it to be when I hammer close to 5000wrms day in and day out for 9-10 months straight, and only one sub has been lost...... nuff said. So what if there not reconable or come with custom coils. They can take all the abuse you give them, eat it up..... and come back for desert....

defro13 11-05-2005 08:59 AM

the l7's are very reliable, they arent reconable, big deal, if it blows up you get a new one yaaaaaaa, even better than reconing, at least in the eyes of a sane person. for the most part how many people buying them even care who won the db dragracing/idbl/usaci/ spl port wars competition, a miniscule amount. for the majority of the people who buy kicker l5/l7 woofers, they dont compete or care about competeing, they are buying a proven loud woofer that is reliable and backed up by a company that has been around for a long time and stand behind their product.. i have sold over 100 l5/l7 8", 10", 12" and 15" woofers since may, i have had only 1 8" woofer blow up, that is less than a 1% failure rate, and thats a very good percentage to those who cant provide real reliability #'s to back up their "kicker isnt reliable" fairytale story, next time you want to tell a fairytale story let me know and i'll round up my 4 year old niece, she likes fairytales

i am surprized that u have had such good luck with the kicker gear but then you guys are more than cabable at propper install and set up so that has a lot to do with any gear. any gear can last well if not "abused". the reason i said my first statment is cause i have seen a half dozen of these woofers come through my shop this summer alone!? not that that is any different than any other product. lots of do it your selfers here in town. nothing wrong with that after all it is how we lern; just ends up costing these people more money in the end than if they got it installed. back on topic i don't think kicker is better than any other gear out there. in fact as far as how it sounds a square no matter how you bake it is just not a good design.

BigBubba 11-05-2005 07:00 PM

How many people were at DBDrag Finals?

Compare those numbers to the people attending local shows around North America and see how many times Kicker makes the top 3. Finals are for the elite systems that are, for the most part, one note wonders.

Kicker produces a solid line of merchandise and combined with retaillers and distributors that are well trained, educated and experienced that equals an awesome combination that is often not available to Joe Consumer.

Lessy 11-05-2005 11:14 PM

yeeeeay... kicker makes top three at a local show

what a headline

honestly, couldn't come up with a better come back than that
Lessy 3 + bonus points = I WIN

Lethal 11-06-2005 01:13 AM

Local shows aren't important? Quite the industry pessimist you are.

You'll probably be the first to whine that there are not enough shows in your area.

Your comments compliment your sig.

wow buddy, learn to READ

where did I say local shows aren't important?!?!

all I'm saying is no one cares how many times a brand makes top three at a local show, it's Irrelevant

you must have been one of the guys with kicker gear getting his azz handed to you by a fob like me and your using this forum to vest your frustration instead of proving useful information

Well Rob DID use Kicker.... but he has since made a revolution :D He actually lost about 5 or 6 L7's this year alone. He has had enough of the square subs letting him down, so he now uses only round subs. But I do beileve L7's get loud, but they don't hold up to the power, that they need to to get even louder. That is why everyone especially in dB Drag knows about the famous "Kicker Smell."
