What can i expect from a 6db increase?

Hey guys,
I currently have my exile xpe-12d in a ported box(36 hz), at the very back of the car with the woofer facing the taillights. The woofer is about 2" away from the taillights cover. With 600 rms it pounds pretty hard. I have been holding off on changing my sub enclosure modification because i was going to buy another car, but decided to keep what i have. Anyhow, going with a second woofer and another 600 watts rms for a 6db gain is what i am going for. This will mean i will have to change my amp, enclosure, cap and beef up the rear suspension to handle the excess weight in the trunk. Is it worth it? How much of an impact will 6db have on spl levels.
Thanks...

How is adding another sub and 600rms going to give you a 6db gain?

..............if you add another woofer you gain 3db, if you double the power on top of that you gain another 3db, so if you go from 1 woofer with 600rms, to 2 woofers with 1200rms you will have an overall gain of 6db. Is this not correct?

............is an increase of 6db going to increase overall bass output well enough to justify buying a new amp, cap, changing enclosures and beefing up the rear car suspension. Will the end result be well worth it?
Thanks...........

Thats all in theory... doesn't quite work like that in real life. If you do gain 6db you will notice a large difference.

.........Right now i have 600rms @ 2ohms going into 1 woofer. If i change enclosures so that i have 2 woofers with 450rms @ 4ohms (225 going into each one) what can i expect? If it worked out well i could keep my present amp and cap. I posted this question awhile back and was told i would see a difference. I am just wondering how much of a change there would be in bass output.

You'd get poor subwoofer performance.... There is nothing wrong with the route you want to go (extra sub and double power), just don't bank on 6db. Will it be a "noticeable gain", likely, how many actual db's... depends... If you get a really good box design and tune to your vehicle you might gain that much maybe more... only way to tell is get metered before and after.

............Thanks! I will add a woofer and double the power. I have said it before, but i have to say it again. These "Exile xpe-12d's" are an absolute bargain! Very underrated!I have owned rf, infinity and jbl subs in the past that were great performers, but these woofers have impressed me the most.I have pounded on this sub month after month with high excursion levels, and i can't hurt it. Great design. Built like a tank! I wish my car was this reliable.

at the very most you will gain 3 db's.

that theory is not correct.
