It has been like that at almost every event I have gone to in the last 3 years. Even in places like Calgary and Saskatoon.

Thats just my $0.02 and I havea feeling I am gonna get flamed for it...

This is the same thing I said on another forum: the posts I read here are what scare me away from going to any SPL competition. I don't want to go hang out with a bunch of immature guys who scoff at anyone who hasn't done as well or doesn't have as much experience. That's not to say that all SPL competitors are like that (I have met some very nice ones, mostly in the US) but most of them give me that kind of impression.

But isn't that common with most things? Its the testosterone talking.

Trying to be the "best" at something, be it car audio, sports, etc, etc is basically a big dick waving contest.

You can call it immature. You can call it lack of humility. But it all comes down to the same thing really.

Lower costs even if it means a cutback in the trophies/prizes for the noob division.
i.e. Printed certificates of their official score plus a small prize for recognition would be fine.
(I personally don't need some trophy I have nowhere to put.)
A system where even daily drivers are competitive, with that whole fuse idea.
A shot at actually placing in a top 5 ranking instead of 3.

take out the rules get some beers and just have fun. maybe have a pro with a mind that doesnt have to think he's the best and just lose to the rookie just to bump there self a steam up a little. or make it close or something. i dont know Just have some daily system comps, not just burps..... personally i dont do comps for the sole reason i just dont give a **** how loud someone else system is. as long im the loudest and i know and everyone else knows im good.

but thats just me. I think Yuli wants to lose to rookies. maybe we can bring him back to earth....stiring the pot.....

ChrisB 08-24-2007 07:22 AM

wow.. i've never heard of anyone rubbing it in rookies faces when they lost, that would def stop people from coming back.. where did this happen?

memphis_mike 08-24-2007 08:21 AM

I am definetly an SPL rookie, although I have competed in some local shows before, this is my first year in DB Drag. I loose pretty much everytime I go out but I don't have a problem with it. I have never had any of the guys tell me that I suck or that I should go home. They are very helpful in giving me little tips and tricks, even helping with box design. So for all of you who think that no one wants rookies in DB Drag you are dead wrong!!

lol did you just make all that up?? this has never happend in the last 3+ years that i've competed.

Killer_klown187 08-24-2007 12:36 PM

Id have to agree with Memphis mike, I go, knwoing there is a good chance Im not going to win, but watching and leanring and just hangin out with a few nice guys and teams is more what its about!! I have gone to SEVERAL shows and Not competed, just to watch and learn and laugh!! ITs not all about winning or loosing, its just having a good time!!

And Yuli is also right, I have never seen anyone purposely make a joke out of someone cause there gear is not up to par!! EVER, regardless of it being cspl,db drag, or anywhere!!

Maybe I need to go to some US shows1!?

Because if it doesnt/didnt happen to you, it didnt happen at all?

Center of the universe much? lol

worldind 08-24-2007 01:14 PM

Well that's coming from somebody who's actually been to a shitload of competitions, vs. somebody who is afraid to go based on inferred internet-based conclusions...
