yup,
i know it's kinda stupid question, but believe it or not i still don't know exactly what a recone on a sub is and why you would get one. i know that it involves replacing the cone on the sub because it's no longer good...but why?

i guess it's because i'm so pansy with all my equipment and haven't blown any subs yet, but if i could just get a quick tutorial about recones it would answer a lot of questions for me. THANKX!

Cone/suspension/voice coil, uses same basket/motor and all the same hard parts, but a recone replaces the old cone with either worn out/damaged suspension/cone, or blown voice coils.

Cone, coil, spider, suspension, dustcap, tinsel leads are what are replaced with a recone of a sub. Basically makes the sub like brand new again, reusing the basket/motor assembly but replacing everything else.

It's great to have that link.. but I can just see it now.. when people aren't too sure on what they are doing, how many recones will be lost

I posted something similar showing step by step on recone and what to use to help align everything proper, I think it was from RE or something I found it on another site. It's in the donut shop I think or general discussion not 100% sure again.

I wouldnt call you a Pansy because you havent blown you subs yet.. I dont remember it ever being a good thing when you blow subs..

People blow subs because they buy mismatched product.
They are negligent when it comes to abuse.

or 3 they are stupid..

the only time a sub should blow is right out of the box because it DOA.

Coffeyman if you havent blown one that just means you have saved yourself money!
