I'd like to be enlighten as well.

Using the proper amperage rated fuse shouldn't decrease the amount of current going to the amp. It's just a dead short till it burns up.

Hey Nathan... nice to see you on the board.

You're right, it SHOULDN'T decrease the amount of current, but it does.

It's been tested by SPLers many times, so that's why you don't see people using them.

In my opinion it isn't so much about the fuse itself but rather the amount of extra connections involved.

Wire --> Fuse holder --> Fuse --> Fuse holder --> Wire

In all of those connections there is bound to be some parasitic loss.

Die hard SPLers probably don't use their car as a everyday driver either......for you guys that do, a fuse is a must unless you also drive with no insurance as that is what the insurance company will tell you when your car crispy critters. For die hard SPL guys, a parasitic loss might mean 1st or thanks for coming out. I for one would like to see fusing mandatory for all events.

As far as fuse sizes go, I have seen AGU fuses at 5 amps before and stock them from 10 amps to 70 amps. Do not worry about using a 10 amp fuse in a distro block even though the equipment attached to it may have a 1 amp fuse. You fuse the wire and not the equipment (unless the equipment has no internal fuses).

EXCUSE ME?

WTF? This board needs to be regulated against stupid comments that could potentially do damage.

At what point in any of the posters comment did he mention anything about SPL?

And Dude, I dont care what SPL people do, its a safety issue and fuses should always be installed. Plain and Simple.

I doubt for a second that your system is designed well enough to the point voltage drop from a fuse is your last resort to squeeze 0.1DB out!

NO FUSE = Retard!

Where is the administrator police!
