Why Is The Spl Game Getting So Weak?
#24
this is a good poll. not only we can see what it is that seems to be killing the scene, but you can also gauge the type of things people do not really care about.
from othe poll you can tell that we are perfectly happy in our own backyard, as no one picked a far finals location as an issue - most guys seems not to even care about that anymore and would rather go strong locally. That is a clue for the right person reading this.

weak? I just broke a 44 with two subs and one amp and thats weak??? jeeez
anyways I picked no shop shows, though I also wanted to say manufacturer support just because it is an expensive game to play. at the same time it could just be that its fading out. I personally love going to shows, and I particularly enjoy the trash talking, I'm sure Don can attest to that. if new guys are scared its probably because they're some p u crooked letter crooked letter y's, but whatever. I come to shows with hopes of winning but intentions on having fun.
I will say that sooner or later I will probably have a show at my shop now that the lease is ending, and technically has very little to do with car audio, just want to make sure I have enough people coming to cover the costs (admin, facilities etc). if there is I'll have one every other weekend, or at least whenever I can make some time for one

I think a lot of these problems closely relate to each other. For example there isn't many new people coming out constantly which in return means less people at shows. Less people at shows will result is less shows due to lack of support. Manufacturer's will not support shows or competitors because the lack of participants attending shows. It makes sense too because why would a manufacturer want to support something that will give them no return.
I think something has to be done to attract new people. Maybe an Ontario league since finals location doesn't seem to have interest in too many people. This new league would have to offer class that will attract new people but also attract some more competitive people. This separation between new people and vets will help with the intimidation factor and hopefully will result in more new competitors and an increase in participation at shows. If there is an increase in support at shows then maybe manufacturers would see this and hopefully start supporting shows and competitors. Manufacturers support will help make show bigger, better, and more affordable.

making a new leauge to potentially attract 4-5 new people is hardly worth it.
those who are for some reason affraid of participating in events are a dead cause, those people are not the answer, let them stay home. there are already classes for noobs and rookies and there is also bass race, how much more is needed? cmon now. cry babies can stay at home.
we gotta focuse on those who are able and willing to participate but are maybe unaware of where, how and when these types of things take place.
in general, the scene is dead because of one reason - total lack of manufacturer support. there is zero dollars to be made in this, all the big companies have already made their money by investing into the car audio scene in the 80's and early/mid 90's. it's simple marketing.
there is a need for a new approach in order for this to survive. right now, we are just kinda being blown in the wind without a direction, and with time all of this will simply dissapate.
the way the infrustructure used to work was like this,
manufacturer (support/money/promotion) -> shops (sales/event organization/product support) -> consumer/competitor (paying etry fees/buying products).
but now the manufacturers have dropped out..............................
to be continued.
