when tuning a car do you tune for drivers side, passenger side or both side and why

 

I always set up a car in from both seats. I guess I am old school that way. Even though I rarley listen to the car from that seat, I like to know that it is set up right. Its harder to do, but hey, if it was easy...everyone would do it

 

Both. For me there is no other way.

 

what compromises to find youeself making when setting up for both seats compared to just tuning for drivers

 

I have always tuned for both seats. And not once have I had fancy gadgets to do it for me. I have done it with the install. I believe I spent more then a week just listening to the front stage in my Cavalier before I finally built the kicks. The Saturn was done a little faster as we had a little more knowladge and it happened to work out faster.
IMO, all this new processing technology, it takes some of the fun out of building a good front end. You can build a half *** front end and have the processing make it sound good.

In the end it comes down to listening time. Place drivers in different positions. Flip drivers in and out of phase. Even use "deflection" techniques to their advantage. Cross over points and equalization can also make a huge difference.
