Question 2 way active using Morel Tempo 6 speakers

I need to know how to setup the xovers and slopes on these speakers.
I'm using a Clarion DRZ9255 running it 2 way active.
The manual states 3800 hz @ 6db using the passive -xovers, but Im not using those.
I have the deck setup for multi-mode, and using the 'High' and 'low' RCA outputs.

Question is what should I run for xover points and slope ? 12db ?
Should I run the midbass 65hz-3800hz ? and the tweeters 3800 and above ? is that how it works ?

btw, the tweeters are on the door panel (close to the dash) and the mids are at the bottom of the doors.

Ok I did some tuning with the x-overs.

Heres my setup:

Multimode (HIGH {tweeter} & LOW {midbass})

tweeter
- HIGH - HPF = 4K hz 18db/octave

midbass
- LOW - LPF = 500 hz 12db/octave - - - - HPF = 63 hz 12db/octave

does this make sense ? it sound decent..

What about the frequencies between 500 and 4khz?? From what you have there, you've blocked most of the midrange frequencies getting to your speakers. Tweeters are playing 4kz and up, midbass are playing 63-500 hz. my suggestion is to use the same xover points and slope rate as the passives initially, and tune from there...that's what i do with my active set up. In your case try the oem settings; 65-3800 for mid and 3800 and up for the tweet and use a 6 db/oct slope id available. Then listen and adjust to you liking.

My headunit doesnt do 3800 hz..
I tried... 65hz to 4000 hz ...to much midrange !
Also, I believe my crossover point on my headunit goes from 3100 hz then to 4k hz IIRC

Remember, I dont have a sub.. only front 2 way.

Really, I need someone to help me tune my drz9255.

so run your midbass from 65hz to 3100
tweeters from 3100 up.

use a steeper slope/cutoff to accomodate for the lower cross point on the tweeters.

or if the tweeters can't handle it do the same thing at 4khz with a shallower slope.

if you feel you have too much midrange, thats why you have an EQ.
don't filter out the sound completely from 500 - 4000. thats ALOT of info missing.

just read through the manual man, its real easy

shallower slope is 6db right ?
steeper slope is 18db right ?

All Im saying is that bringing the xover point higher on the midbass, it doesnt sound right. Maybe I should put all the slopes to 6db then, like the passive crossover it comes with ?

I have the owners manual btw.

Also, I have no idea how to use the Parametric EQ yet.

Well, I did some more listening and tuning today on my 2 way active setup.

So right now this is where I have my x-overs set to.

HIGH (tweeters) - HPF 3.15k Hz @ 6db
MID N/A
LOW (Midbass) - LPF 3.15k Hz @ 6db
. . HPF 25 Hz @ 18db

I have a couple questions:

1. How long does it usually take to break in new component speakers ?
2. The factory crossover point on my Morels is 3800 hz @ 6db. Is it ok to have a lower crossover point ?
3. My tweeters still sound too 'smooth'.. How can I get them to sound a lil more 'bright' ? Would my haedunits Parametirc EQ help this ?

Update:
So a lil more fine tuning, and I also got the P.EQ going as well.

This is where I have my x-overs set to.

HIGH (tweeters) - HPF 3.15k Hz @ 18db
MID N/A
LOW (Midbass) - LPF 3.15k Hz @ 6db
. . HPF 40 Hz @ 18db (not having a sub sucks)

On the Parametric EQ, I added +2db Gain @ 8k hz to my tweeters and added +1.5db @ 50 hz to my mids as well.

now its starting to sound like a proper setup.

have you tried lowering the cross point on the tweeters slightly?
