That's right. I'm using an Alpine PXA-H700 crossover/eq with separate amps for each set of speakers. FWIW I like passives but I wanted to go active with this car.

Yeah....I heard that Zapco was dropped like a HOT potato.

No support...or very little support from Zapco USA to the Canadian Distributor, and pricing issues were problems with dealers.

U.S. pricing was not relative to the dollar differance. Too bad....it's nice product.

Guys like the Focal amps instead of the Zapco anyway...so most dealers just switched.

How about Audison ?? Made in Italy......good watt per dollar value, and extremely reliable too. Just a thought !!

As for which is better.....which one did YOU prefer....after all it's your car....not OURS !!
You'll get 100 different opinions on 2-way vs. 3-way.....Brand X vs. Brand Y......pick the one you like and buy it !
Or next you'll have us choosing which girl you should date next....the one with the big ti**ies or the one with the nice a*s !! Just kidding....but you get the point !!
Your car...your ears...you choose....and forget everyone else's opinions.....

Yes, I know it's my ears and car but the reason why I asked is because I've never heard a 3 way system?

I've been away from car audio for some time now, and being that technology today is light years ahead, I see a lot more brands selling 3 way systems. So I just wondered if more guys are using that system because it's better? I don't know?

I'm not an all out car audio junkie like most of you. So I thought I'd ask about the two, being that I've been out of the scene for awhile. That's all.

So if I get a 6" 3 way system, using it's factory x-over, would 150w be sufficient? OR is it better to go with a elec. x-over and send each component seperate wattages?

It is harder to set up...especially if you dont know what your'e doing.

For now....I would use the passive xovers they come with...after all, if the manufacturer has done their job, it will be the right frequencies that the speakers are crossed over at.

A 3-way can sound better.....it can also sound worse ! Some guys think more speakers is better, but you can run into issues like phasing problems when you have too many speakers, or not installed properly, time alignment issues.

A 2-way is probably a better starting point....one of the brands I deal with can start you off as a 2-way, but they have designed a 3-way upgrade with the right crossover....should you want to upgrade at any point in the future.
Hertz speakers are made by the same guys that make Audison amplifiers.

They have 2-way, and 3-way components ready to go.....

Whatever you choose...I'd start with a 2-way and look at upgrading if you're not happy with the results.

Do they have a canadian distributor? I'm pretty sure Karz dropped them for Zapco, and after that I haven't heard anything about Audison.
