Alpine CDA-9830 freq tuning
so i built a new box, slot ported, and threw it in, sounds good, but doesnt really have the lows, the box is tuned to 36hz, but everything is still set to 120hz, so i might go out and try to set both hpf and lpf to 80, and set the amp to 80.
your subs will be fine once they are set properly on the amp and the deck, at 32hz they will be almost overpowering, but heres my two cents on your situation..... im sure a few here will agree as well.... take your back speakers. and throw them right into the garbage can!!!!!, take the time source out a decent 2ch amp, and get a decent set of components for the front, screw the back entirely, music should sound like its coming from in front of you anyway. this is what is done in sooo many sq cars, you dont need rear fill if you have that great front stage, so dont waste your money on rear speakers. i used to be like that and since i have gone to just fronts... wow soo much better with the quality.
well i played with the amp a bit today at 80hz, and put a test tone hz cd in, and wow was it amazing through 30-39 hz, but playing music it wasn't the same, almost sounded sloppy and wasn't as clean and low. as for the speakers, im going to be getting a 4ch amp, i like rears, i like the sound being all around me, not just infront of me.
^^yep..you either like rear speakers or you don't. I can't stand systems without them...except for a few very well set up front only systems in very small cars...and even those i thought were missing something...ambiance!
now what should i do about my sub problem, i dont know if i should try building another box, just get a new sub or what. im leaning more towards new box, but just sucks because i just built this one.
