Amp configuration for best SQ

Hello all

I know nothing, so please bear with me.

I currently have an MTX 2301 (300w) monoblock amp running my SW. I want to add an amp to power my in car speakers instead of the head unit (45w x 4) running them.

Sound quality wise, is having a dedicated amp for each purpose better (1 4 channel & 1 monoblock)? Or would using something like an Eclipse XA5000 5 channel (75x4 450x1) do the job just as well?

Any insight would be great!

P.S. This setup is for personal SQ, no competition stuff. I will be using Morel Speakers in the car, and have an Eclipse SW7000 (dvc 4 ohm 500w RMS) sealed box for a sub.

Thanks All,
Craig

A single amp would be nice but for my applications I found most of the singles dont have enough power for the sub channel

You don't think 450W is enough for my sub?

Looks like a decent set-up. One other thing to consider is your alternator, and your battery. If you have 90 amp alternator on your Focus, then you probably wont be able to get all the juice out of this amp anyways, so anything bigger would be a waste. If you have a 120 amp alt, then you will be fine with this set up, and more then likely be able to work the system to full potential if needed. Get a nice battery, and do the "big 3"(at least add another large gauge ground to the battery!), and the audio performance will be improved. Dont ignore your cars electrical capabilities.

what morels are you using?
Most of them like big power but its not needed
and most 3 or 5 channel amps sacrifice some performance for convenience usually in the power supply but some are still great with dedicated power supplies for the mono and stereo section thats what ya wanna look for

I checked out the MCH1300 and the specs look great, but that amp is over two
feet long. Can't wait to get my hands on an Alpine PDX-5. 11"W x 3"H x 9"D
75W RMS x 4 + 300W RMS x 1 @ 4 ohms.
