I am atually doing this right now.
While my passives still suck @ss, I cannot get the active unit to sound any better.

How long do you have to mess around with this stuff in order to get it sounding better? Tricks?

Yes Dukk and arguably the best studio monitors have an active setup...like Genelec

Active means more control. Control is everything. Power isn't "power". Control is "power". Some of you will understand that, while others will go and think I'm insane !!!
True on a number of levels, though when I had my front end active (3way front end with a sub)getting the balance between drivers right was almost impossible. I think some of my x-overs were dicking me around (EQX). The power is in the operators fingers in an active system.
