You did not mention the kind of deck you had. With an alpine deck you can control Alpine amps directly from the front seat. The alpines amps you mentioned are very fine, so are the speakers. There is something nice about a single brand install. Nothing wrong with mix and match either, particularly if you are on a budget (and who is not) and you are patient and find good deals.

What does being able to adjust amplifier setting from the front seat have to do with SQ?

I gather you are taking me to task Mark, just because we disagree on caps.
Being able to adjust amps from the deck does not ultimately improve SQ, but there are many factors that go into a decision to purchase something, specs, features, realiability etc.

This has nothing to do about that thread, and to tell you the truth, I didn't really pay attention to the fact that it was you that posted it, but please explain that one to me, how the amp is any more effective in a "Sound Quality" state because you can adjust from the drivers seat? jsut because you adjust it from the deck, doesn't make a adjustment on the amp any less efective... Convinient, yes, but none the less, the topic isn't
about convinience...

regards, Mark

If you can set the phase, gains and crossover slopes from the listening position, then better SQ will happen a lot sooner. Being able to hear the effect of the adjustment as it's happening can be a definate advantage.

Not neccessarily better if you spend a lot of time running around the car, but most people get it "close enough" and that's it.

One would think 'tho that an equally priced amp without the extra gadgets might have better overall SQ, but I've not heard the Alpines in question in a decent car.
