Now keep in mind im an SPL guy so when it comes to imaging, soundstage etc i dont know my ass from a hole in the wall.
Just wondering if anyone has experimented with glassing midranges into the a-pillar pointing to the opposite passenger. My reasoning is #1 it would put my midrange much closer to my tweeters. (tweeters already in a-pillar, midranges in stock location in doors ) #2 im bored and need something to do this winter #3 need to improve my glassing skill #4 wouldnt mind giving SQC a shot next year and im sure it would be an improvement over where the midranges are currently placed #5 also if all goes well ill also be making ported door pods for my ddw6.5 midbasses if i dont get too discouraged with the a-pillar build. any thoughts? |
Mids in the a-pillar was used in a few cars at worlds finals the last couple of years. They can work great because they are not effected by feet or legs etc.

Mugen just did that with his Honda Ridgeline, I believe Mr. Tim Bailey is responsible for the work. Check his site. They are pretty cool looking and from what I read they sound great.

Unless you have time alignment capabilities I would reconsider putting your mids in the Apillars.

in some cars the pillars are just as far if not farther away then the kickpanels

^ lol, you driving a TranSport these days or something?
