I think the centerstage you speak of and that they still have up on the site, is the set with the "gold" tweeters?
The ones I had bought was almost half the price. It was taken down after that.. I checked too..lol Normally I'd agree about the choice of crossover point, the inline 1.2khz that came with them seemed in theory a bit low for a 1" tweeter :eyes: but since its at a 12db slope and the rear fill channel on the passive crossover receives only 25% of the total power into the crossover( about 30wrms right now) and they're rated 110wrms, it seems to sound clean and full :dunno: at least to our untrained sqless ears...lol Yes, even our mock up set did absolutely as the CDT set advertises!!:appl: It brought the sound up from the kicks, closer to dash height and centered it well for both driver and passenger. We do currently run a floor midship mounted midbass also. I guess that should be taken into acount:dunno: We'll see what happens with the crossover point when we throw a little more power at them:eyes: We have a double DIN opening, we swapped in a single DIN HU on the lower half and secured the tweeters on top, we only have to add some acoustic fabric to the trim and they'll be hidden, hopefully factory...ish...lol |
Centre tweeter install sounds slick. Should look nice. I'd be more liky to do centre staging than upstage I think. Do u know of a good site to find crossover building instructions? All the premade 6khz+ crossovers I can find seen expensive for what they look. I'll prob put some length of wire on my tweets and move them around on the dash and see if I like.
Did u try any ambient, a pillar mounting options? The previous version of my components had a rear fill out, but newer ones don't.:( |
Sorry bro, no, I don't know of any sites for crossover parts, I'm still buying prefab :eyes:
We did try them up in the windshield corners like the CDT upstage systems suggest. It brought the sound up, but it still came from the the side. It didn't seem to center it much at all. Also with the tweeter 1.5 foot from my ear, pointed at the windshield or not, I seemed to hear it well before the other front stage:thumbsdow. I didn't want to try them in/at the sail panels on our van just because they are much closer to the ear than the kick pods and we don't run T/A yet With the tweets in the dash , they are only about 3-4 inchs closer than the main tweeters. Sound good for now. Having that rear fill channel on the crossover really help us out, you may be able to find a set for cheap if you search enough :dunno: If you get something like this done, let me know what you think of yours:thumbsup: |

^thanks dukk.
Gavin, I think the upstage from CDT is x'd over really high just to bring the ambiance up. I also don't see it making much difference in centering the image. I may be able to find an older pair of crossovers for the same speakers at my work. When I get my amp in, I'll try some stuff and let u know. Thank for your experiences/help and we'll talk again.:smilie_da |
NP bro. Glad if I helped.
If/when we get it set up better , if its any different in a good way, I'll let you know. Dukk. Very cool, never seen that before :) |

I just got my front components and amp tied together and will put the Secondary tweets on some length of wire and move them around the dash. I'm mostly interested in hearing a centre stage effect either on the back of the rearview mirror or upfiring in the top of the dash, reflecting off the window. I may just run them off deck power so I can tune the amp for the components around whatever volume I have the deck tweets at.
Any more news SOULBROTHA? Hopefully ill have some picks up soon while im doing kick mounted subs. It looks like the cdt centre stage is fairly low xd over (1000ish hz) and the upstage is crossed over fairly high (6-8khz) |
In our case we found that the dash opening gave us the best overall centerstage sound. Thats partially due to using the other components passive xovers and being limited to what they give RMS to the center tweets. For us, reflecting off the window gave us very little extra sound, but again probably due to not running them active and controlling the power individually.
I doubt if deck power on the tweets, reflecting off the windshield , will give you much :dunno: but worth a try for the eq control for sure:thumbsup: We put the tweets in and took the bass out to recone at about the same time. Even though we miss the big bass, with the centerstage in, there's so much more actual music that sounds awesome. Sometime I forget our bass right now is 200w and 1 12:eyes: I find myself hearing background things I didn't even know were in songs...lol Probably the best <$100 upgrade we've ever done:smokin: |
