I'm setting up the rings on my kicks right now. I have one done, the other just about there. Then I will be stretching over the fabric, resining and after that I will make a plate for the variovents to go on the backside. Probably ready in a month or so.
Another idea is using the exact same cone and voice coil(or equal weight), without the magnet assembly, as an (ABR)Auxiliarry Bass Radiator.
And which Drivers did you score?
If you're still interested I think we have a few KEF Kar X/O's , 2 and 3 way. (psst the nice ones)

Anything within reason from focal.
Probably polyglass.
Eli, that's basically a ported box, am I right?
My net total space in the door, without major cutting, is only around .3 cuft. My research has led me to find very few drivers that even work sealed in that space...

It was my understanding that a passive radiator box is designed and behaves like a ported enclosure, with similar size, and tuning frequencies...I would love to do a box like that, however, it's probably too big. Correct me if I'm wrong...

before determining the application you have to know what speakers you will be using. have you heard the speakers you plan to use in your truck? if not, how can you be sure it wont sound good, i guess im trying to say that you cant determine the best method of applying the speaker without knowing which speaker you will use. ps say hi to jeffy and johnny from dave in kelowna

heh, sure will Dave.
I have tried the polyglass mid in my door on a massive baffle, just to get an impression.
I compared it to what I had on the other side, which is a morel MW162, and I found the morel to play a little smoother, but still not even close to what I would like to hear...
I also ran numbers on the polyglass, and because it is a 'true' IB woofer, it liked a 1cuft. box.
HUGE!
