audio hiss

well we experimented with the increasing front stage power.. we everyone was right the difference was like night and day .. but now i have a different problem.. i am getting a slight hissss out of the speakers now.. i have all the gains turned to min on the amps,processers.. i tried different rca cables. its funny i never heard the hiss before.. what should i try or is this normal to have alittle hisss.... should i try using a noise gate?

even with the eq turned off it doesn't effect it.. i will try the different headunit.. any other ideas?

Did you "boost" the eq higher than 1K? If the boost thoose fren. your boosting the noise floor of the system. Very common issue with eq, try zeroing the eq than trying.

I would recomend a noise gate...I used to own a clarion cd player...pro series...it had a clever little feature in it...it had a noise gate built into it...it worked just like a regular cordless telephone noise gate...and shut off any signal when there wasn't any there...I never had any hissing problems with that baby...I wish I still had that deck...I went from loud to Mind numbing quiet at the flick of the pause button. try taking the rca from the deck to the amp directly and see if the hiss goes away. if it does that answers your question if not call me and i will sell you my ppi noise gate.
